If Andy played bass then someone else had to play the harmonica. According to the Bootleg list, Andy didn't start playing harmonica live with Quo until the late 80s. You may be right. Young was Sacked 1979 as tour manager but just realized that he continued to tour with the band until 1984. Who played harmonica at Quo's Back Summer Tour and In the Army Now Tour?

No one, and I don't think Bob was present at any live shows from 81 - 84, besides Crystal Palace and Milton Keynes. Andy didn't play harmonic on stage until the Summer Tour in 1991.

Yeah, I remember Bob being missing on the Never Too Late tour but never really thought much of it or wondered why until much later when things started to come out. By the late 70's, he was only playing on Roadhouse Blues. In fact I can only recall him playing on that and Railroad way, way back in the day. Although they probably played Down The Dustpipe before I got to see them. As for Andy playing bass, given that it's his chosen instrument - or used to be - I wonder if the reformed Quo (i.e. Rick and Francis) ever did consider that. The "if not, why not" is probably down to their value of him as a keyboard player. Or the need to have a keyboard player given the road they were going down.

Probably wasnt thought about, but I think he played bass on Flying Debris (Rossis unreleased solo album). They considered getting a 2nd keyboard player in 1986, iirc, for the Army tour. In the end, as we all know, they didnt and simply had Stage Tape mixes done for tracks that needed them.
