Andy was asked if he would tour the Final Cut Floyd tour. He said he would.
If he had. Obviously that tour never took place.Would he have left the Status Quo set up.
As he didn’t leave when he toured with the band during the Wall tour. Were Status Quo on hiatus then due to Ricks personal tragedy ?

Not a huge Floyd fan but that would be 1983 I think? Pretty sure by that time the big thing would be Frame wanting to go it alone, and Rick realising he'd have no choice but to do the same (probably his thoughts later though, after B2B and EotR, I'm sure he lived in hope of it never-ending). If Floyd had toured he would have been away I guess the rest of 1983 and all of 1984. Possible impact on the B2B album and appearances. Would Quo have replaced Andy or automatically welcomed him back in 1986 after the failed solo careers?

From the horse's mouth, so to speak. Talking all things Pink Floyd from about the 41-42 min mark.
Incidentally, I remember Andy saying in the past about him getting the call from Bob Young to play on sessions for 'Hello' and how it wasn't really his thing musically but he needed the money and so he took the job on. One of those quirks in life that he went on to be with the band for decades. He mentions that life-changing moment in this interview from around the 27 min mark.

Another what if relating to the mid-eighties: what if the reformed band after Live Aid hadn't included Rick bringing along the rhythm section he'd been working with? Would Pete have been continued with as drummer? Might Andy have switched to bass?
Somewhere in a parallel universe ...... eh?

You beat me to posting the same thought I reckon Francis didn't consider it. Financially it would have made great sense to stick Andy on bass, ie one less band member to pay. And with him doing two jobs, perhaps we'd have had less keyboards?

And with him doing two jobs, perhaps we'd have had less keyboards? Or maybe bring in a new keyboard player. I've not always considered Andy's keyboard contributions to be entirely sympathetic to the Quo sound. Although that may no longer apply, seeing as the sound of Quo is not what it once was.

If Andy played bass then someone else had to play the harmonica.

Never, ever liked the keyboards with the Quo. So if he had gone it would have been fine by me and no replacement..🤔

If Andy played bass then someone else had to play the harmonica. According to the Bootleg list, Andy didn't start playing harmonica live with Quo until the late 80s.
