I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but 4500 times was first played live on the 1975 tour.
Listening to the a boot from Sweden 1975 today. What came to mind, is what a great live song it was. Truely one of the finest. I do love the 1975 version which some times still include the Gotta go home refrain. A rare time in their career where a song changed during a tour.

Yep. First appeared during the 4 UK shows that were recorded in the middle of a European tour, early 1975.

There's a rumour that was played on the '75 spanish tour too two weeks after the UK shows recorded. That particular period it's an odd one for the band. Too many changes in the setlist I believe.

It was always overlong I reckon, bearing in mind they played Oh Baby and Blue Eyed Lady in 2013, a shorter 4500 Times would have allowed them to be played.

I think the track got longer every tour. It was okay for 9/10 minutes and then it became a bore. After 1977 it was nearly 30 minutes and just two songs, 4500 Times and BFM.

The version they played during the 1982 tour and EOTR was 20 minutes long. This was followed by Ross's guitar part of about 2 minutes followed by BFM, just shy of 30 minutes I reckon. And if that makes me a Krunt then you're no more than a Futter!

I was much less careful with my stuff in 1975 than I am now and scribbled the set list down in the programme from the Glasgow Apollo gig. Not in any order, obviously Forty Five Hundred Times was in the set but I can't for the life of me remember much about it. However, I notice that I've written " Gotta Go Home" as a separate song but presumably it was tagged on the end of it. Because it was the first time I'd heard the song live my memory of the night before was presumably playing tricks on me. Which it now does on a daily basis as I try to remember what day it is As an aside, there was also an error in the printed narrative which talks about Quo's success in the "winter of '75". It was still May! See? Quality control even then was a bit hit and miss

Incidentally, I should mention that the encores are not listed because we had to catch the last train back to Edinburgh, so we missed them. I presume it was Caroline and Bye Bye Johnny, although someone else can probably confirm that.
We waited for what seemed ages for the band to come back on but eventually ran out of time and had to bolt.
