Halls of Fame, whether it's for music or sport or whatever, have always been a largely American creation. They seem to go for it more. There are, of course, halls of fame here. There's even a Scottish football one believe it or not. I think there might be a couple of names that made it in but not much more than that Actually, that's not strictly true. I think all you have to do is get 50 caps. And if you can't get 50 caps in this era of Scottish football wilderness, then you are officially kerrap. Take a bow, Grant Hanley But these pantheons of recognition are largely ignored here in the UK. I'm not sure if there's a UK music Hall of Fame. I don't think so. If there was, Quo would be in it. No question. What we tend to do is award long standing acts at the Brits for their 'contribution'. Which is like a pat on the top of the head by the young saying "there you go, granddad; now off you trot" Mort, do you know about the pioneering "Football Memories" initiative..some genius noticed old lads in Scotland who had Altzheimer's could recognise footballer's but not remember anything else. That was 11 years ago and they have now created the greatest job in the World. They recruit people who have a knowledge of football to chin wag with the old boys....fcuking greatest job in the Universe, imagine the joy an Englishman to banter with would bring!! Not much good for the girls, who gives a fcuk about Skipping and Bunty.

I'm also in favor of at least trying!
Even getting nominated is a badge of honor (if you care for the Hall at all).

INFO Tue, 23 Jun, 18:59 (23 hours ago) to me Hi, Chris! Thanks for reaching out. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists' contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock & roll. Thank you for taking the time to contact us about the induction of Status Quo into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Like you, rock & roll is part of our being, so we understand your passion about who gets inducted into the Rock Hall. And as a huge music fan myself, I get it – it’s frustrating when you feel like your favorite, deserving artists are getting overlooked by the nominating committee. But it might help you to know that out of the millions of recording artists in history, we’ve inducted less than 400 so far. We have a long way to go, so just because Status Quo have yet to be inducted, doesn’t mean they won’t be! I encourage you to share your thoughts with the nominating committee and write them a letter with your suggestion at the following address: ATTN: Jon Landau The Nominating Committee Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. 750 Lexington Avenue 9th Floor New York, NY 10022 Rock & roll is all about bringing people together, finding common threads that unite us. We're lucky to have experienced and shared this great music together. Thanks for keeping the spirit of rock & roll alive. We are honored to be entrusted with preserving it! ROCK ON! Amanda Pecsenye | Curator www.rockhall.comAnyway, this is the email they sent me with the relevant address and persons name. I am sending a letter, but if anybody on here or out there that reads this forum, please fire off a letter nominating the band. The more the merrier I guess!

Someone a while back left a comment on one of my videos on youtube, stating; "Mid 70's Michigan Palace Theatre! Three bands, five bucks! Rush, Kansas and Status Quo! Very next week, Heart, Kansas and Status Quo! These guys came out with no fanfare, almost completely unknown to Detroit, in front of a beat up wall of Sound City amps! Forever changed my life!" Was there at the Michigan Palace in April '75, Rush with Quo as support. No fanfare is right, t-shirts and denim. Went to see Rush but was gifted with Quo. The only song I knew of them was POMM. Hearing their set not knowing anything after POMM, just wow. Outplayed Rush by a long shot.

They could stand shoulder to shoulder with Titans like The Cure, The Dave Clarke Five,The Hollies, The Moody Blues, Pete Seeger and Tupac. Without cracking the States Quo will probably have sold many more records & gig tickets (apart from maybe the M B) across Europe, Scandinavia & Asia.....If they’d had the same success in America they would’ve been at least on par with The Stones.

They were decent, didn’t deliver like Quo though as a straight down the line rock n roll band. Also remember seeing Honeymoon suite & Firehouse (US bands) support Quo...not in the same league as Quo. Given some promotion & AirPlay things could’ve been different. Yanks have missed out that’s for sure.

Remember the UK Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, what ever happened too that didnt it fizzle out after like 2 years of the broadcasts? That would of been best time for Quo to get recognized.

The whole thing seems to be a self-appointed load of wank, imo. I think Deep Purple only finally scraped in fairly recently.

I am not sure if anyone on here is bothered by The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, but as I have been doing the square root of f*ck all at work today I decided to look at the nominations for 2020. Well you have a couple of big hitters mainly American, but then up pops Judas Priest, Motorhead and Thin Lizzy. Now this got me thinking, surely our beloved Quo (1970-1984) should have got the nod by now. Anyway I fired off an email to the relevant people and recieved a very nice reply. It basically has said that I have to write a letter to the nominating committee with my reason why Quo should get a nomination. The email provided an address, obviously in the USA. So as tomorrow looks like a nice day and I am at work twiddling my thumbs, I think I will fire off a letter. Any suggestions? Did Judas Priest, Motörhead, and Thin Lizzy get over the line and into the hall of fame?

Gaz, I am not sure. I think the ceremony has been postponed, apparently there is a virus doing the rounds!
