I was at Selhurst Park and Milton Keynes. I knew I wasn't seeing the "best Quo ever" but as a new fan seeing them doing their last shows, I was glad just to be there. The rain was a bit of value added :-) Didn't the overhead at the park sag at one point and narrowly not deposit water on Rick's head? He lived! Wasnt that the famous occasion when Dave Ling saw Francis being stuffed down the toilet by his minders because he was so ... out of it on something? Legendary times!
Fortunately they came back again in another form. That is what made me happy.

I think the Mystery Medley was the most overdubbed song of the whole show. Just listen to Wild Side Of Life and watch both Rick and Francis. Their playing does not match up to the audio at all. Rick and Francis' vocals were heavily overdubbed here and there as they both seemed to be having an off day May as well have been titled "Milton Keynes Medley; Live From A Studio in Woldingham Surrey" (were it was mixed and overdubbed) Interestingly (or not ) I hadn't heard the Milton Keynes Medley for over 30 years when it suddenly pitched up on that compilation Whatever You Want The Essential Status Quo in 2016. My turntable went the way of the dinosaur in the early 90's and it never appeared on CD till that recent compilation. As far as I'm aware anyway. It was good to hear it again if I'm honest. But I guess on reading this thread it explains why the band never wanted a live album released or brought the gig out on on DVD.

When you look at the footage, I'd say it makes the rift between Francis and Rick more obvious than the one between Fran and Alan. I'd only noticed recently. Rossi seemed really fed up, especially with some of the fans throughout the show, even more so after almost being hit by a bottle, twice.

And I think Francis has seemed fed up ever since

I know there were all sorts of substances on the go, which would obviously contribute. But I'm sure even if they were clean and sober the whole time, that their voices were never going to be in the best of nick, they were right at the end of a pretty big tour. Obviously there is no excuse for the guitar playing being off, as the ability to re-tune them means they don't suffer from a long tour like the voice does.
I still would love an officially released CD or Blu Ray from the gig. But yes I would like the version that has been touched up in the studio, and not the original recording. I didn't attend the gig, so I just think of the VHS version I had of it as a kid, and from that point of view it was a masterful performance from all.

I've always though that. There seems to be a bit of chemistry between Francis and Alan, whereas Rick just looks pissed off for the entire gig. There's a clip somewhere of an interview with Rick and Alan on a local news programme during the EOTR tour and Rick's really tetchy with Alan.

I gather both Rick and Francis were heavily struggling with their personal problems... which was a reason for folding the band as a live concern. Alan was unaffected by this, I guess. Alan was the owner of a studded arm band and had a manly outlook, nothing bothered him.

Fair to say it was a band in distress.

After Rick appeared to be leaking the real reason behind the band's decision to give up touring, Alan reacted by using body language towards him..........
