A couple of years back, having a few beers at BB Kings Blues pub in Memphis, watching these bands with the crowd absolutely loving it, and thinking how even todays Quo would absolutely kill it over here. America missed the Quo bus decades ago.

I hadn't realised Fleetwood Mac recorded LPB a year before Quo did. Wonder if Quo did their own arrangement or was it copied from another version? Quo were very into Fleetwood Mac in their formative years. In the interview with Annie Nightingale, Francis mentioned about them standing watching the Fleetwoods on stage playing many shuffles. I heard somewhere that EC has been to a Quo gig in the past and a bit of a fan. Not just being on the same shared bill stuff. At one time EC was working on something with Townshend and EC had to leave to get to a Quo gig. Townshend didn't see that one coming! Rock Family Tree stuff and paths crossing. EC worked with Albert Lee of course but not many people know that Albert worked with Bob Young and appears on Bob's version of 'Mean Girl'.

If you want Quo vs Clappy listening to Your Smiling Face followed by Slow Down Linda. Note the solos... I’m just catching up with this thread- you beat me to it👍

Note the solos... the latter song would have been a good chas n dave tune too...fuck me drunk it is Funny you should say that- Eric performed this with Chas n Dave on their Christmas special in the 80s. It’s quite often repeated on Channel 5.

The brilliant Albert Lee on guitar.

Possibly Gaz. The press were saying that the band were going 'Country' though the band were saying that it wasn't a conscious decision. Francis came to realise that the American pop stars that he admired eg. Guy Mitchell, Connie Francis, The Everlys etc were actually known as Country stars in the US. I think 'Wild Side of Life' may have come about because, long ago, Quo did a stint as Tommy Quickly's backing band. Tommy Quickly had a hit with 'Wild Side of Life'.

It's a long time ago - 1977 I think - but I recall seeing Rod Stewart live and he performed Wild Side of Life. Can't remember if it was any good or not and I've no idea if he did a studio version. The only time I've seen him live actually. We didn't hang around for him when Quo supported in 1991
