Great idea for a thread but for this pair, not sure its a fair comparison because they're playing such different style of blues, even with the same track. And depending on my mood, I enjoyed both. I remembered that Francis admired Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard, and the opening of this concert gives a flavour of what Quo are going for but its a medley of tracks at the end of a gig.

If you want Quo vs Clappy listening to Your Smiling Face followed by Slow Down Linda. Note the solos...

curiousgirl I really like all four song clips I posted. WIth both songs the treatment is very different. Same RB. I guess by using -V- I implied I wanted to know the winner, but I just thought that was a good name for a thread

As much as I love Quo but Comparing Quo as guitarists v Clapton & Peter Green. I think even Francis Rossi & Rick if he was still with us would have a laugh at that 😂

I hadn't realised Fleetwood Mac recorded LPB a year before Quo did. Wonder if Quo did their own arrangement or was it copied from another version?

It's worth comparing Quo's In My Chair with this Fleetwood Mac song as well. Recorded by the latter a year before Quo came up with theirs. Coincidence I imagine. Both bog standard blues runs but running in different directions.

In My Chair very much sounds like the joints we smoked behind the bus stop before school back in the day; real earthy, half asleep but only a quarter awake sort of vibe about it. Although I will say Quo’s shift to Ma K’s/Dog were probably more or less spurred completely by Fleetwood Mac and Chicken Shack.

Yeah, Quo have always said that Mac and Chicken Shack heavily influenced them at that time. I wish they'd influence Francis more now!
