Confirmation that Francis did indeed use his Grimshaw on TOTP: definitely isn't a green sunburst however. I have a coloured photo from the ToTPs shoot

Ah, yes! Thanks for the pics. Just to clarify, I didn't mean to infer that the green guitar in the photo above was FR's own instrument, I posted simply to show what the green sunburst model looked like. I was surprised to see it described as 'green sunburst' myself, I knew I'd seen a sunburst guitar on a TOTP photo... turns out it was on the front of that 1978 compilation which I used to have on cassette many moons ago. The plot thickens somewhat... the B&W auction pic is from Sotheby's August 1990 catalogue and was being sold by "John Coughlan's (sic) wife" according to www.grimshawguitars.co.uk/index.php/gallery/grimshaw-catalogues/

The whole 'green' thing in the auction catalogue is odd and confusing the issue. Looking at the auction photo and obviously the scratchplate is missing but also curiously the bridge humbucker pick up is reversed compared to how it looked on TOTP. Not an uncommon thing to do but just thinking that's quite a bit of tinkering about bearing in mind that Rossi said he only had it a few days before it fell apart. Presumably it had been done sometime after when being repaired.

I know its slightly off topic, but I can remember quite a few years ago Annie Nightingale had an autobiography out. In it she can remember doing a DJ show on a RAF base in the 1970s. It was a Valentines disco she was hosting, but all she recieved were requests for Quo the whole evening. `Annie got any Quo`?
