I saw them on tv when they played for Princess Trust in 1982..than in 1984 when my dad was driving through Hammersmith on our way home to Camberley we past the Odeon as it was called than,we saw Status Quo EOTR tour and we saw a crowd waiting at the stage door..we joined them, met Rick,Alan & Andy..so my old man bought tickets for Crystal Palace concert..I met Pete Kircher and got his autograph. .that's when I first saw SQ and got the bug..Rick was my hero when I was a kid, always wanted hair like his back in the 80's,now Rick has sadly passed I'm not so hooked,I bought Backbone..I've yet to listen to it..I do like Richie & Leon, but I'm very much into the Foo Fighters these days.. i do listen to the old Quo albums..it takes me back.

Sheffield 89, which was a surprise that my mum and dad got me. I was 13.
Then Sheffield arena opened in 1991 and I went every year probably in some capacity at various venues up till about 2005. It got progressively less exciting but along the way I went to some great gigs
Amsterdam musichalle on the Never Say Never tour Shepherd’s Bush empire Blackpool empress ballrooms - the speakers were actually swaying a good few inches from the bounce on the spring dance floor. Brid spa on the thirsty work tour which was a very mosh pit - not that pleasant really.
Their popularity peaked for me around 1992. The arena in Sheffield was completely sold out holding about 14000 people. Rossi commented on it. It can’t have been far off their largest, best attended indoor gig in the UK up to that point, I would think as I think the arena held more than Wembley and the nec.
Audiences dwindled after that. I got bored around 2004 going out of habit more than anything. Then I went to 3x reunion gigs at Hammersmith and knowing nothing would ever compare, ever, haven’t been since. (I did do the aquostic at the roundhouse out of curiosity but that doesn’t count !)

1984, Birmingham NEC on the End of the Road tour. Thought it would be my first and last chance to see them 😂
I was 8 and my brother was 5 - parents stuffed our ears with cotton wool and we wore matching denim jackets!
I do actually remember really enjoying it, and still have the programme. They were giving away free sticker sheets, featuring old album artwork I think, but not sure what happened to those...
