Edinburgh Playhouse December 1986. I was at that. Went to the SECC the night after as well but it wasn't nearly as good for some reason. Edinburgh Playhouse was always a cracking gig. I lived with a girl in Albert Street at the time, just a stroll down the road. So it was an easy one to get to. Small world

I think they opened with WYW? Bought the bootleg tape from Ingliston Market soon after.

Always thought they were bollox But MSG would have been emblazoned/bleached on the back with the Flying-V logo. Actually, thinking about it, I was nearly 30 so I might have toned down showing off my allegiances a bit. And gone for understated but fashionable rock chic

1st time I saw Quo was my first ever concert/festival. Sunday 1st July 1979, Dalymount Park, Dublin. SQ headlining ahead of the mighty Judas Priest with drummer Les Binks' last ever European gig with JP [afaik !]. Wish I could remember the Quo setlist! Wish, even more, that there was a recording of it!
Happy Days all the same!! G

Cans? You missed out on the Kia Ora? Hammy wasn't Hammy without the Kia Ora! I still miss it. When anyone emails me from New Zealand (we were gonig there this summer till the virus crap blew up), they begin with "Kia Ora", I think "orange flavoured juice in a plastic carton, Hammersmith".
I could have been at that gig, I was in the area. Must have taken my first batch of laundry home that weekend :-) Mid week I would probably have been there. Of such small things is life made ...
We were always a little wary of Kia Ora! Yes, it all starts innocently enough and just a bit of fun having a few cartons of Kia Ora pre-gig but before you knew it you could find yourself on the slippery slope and experimenting with Orangina! Aargh! My secret revealed!

aha the old rossi look grandad shirt and waist coat. Rossi is weird: did you see the photo of him wearing a tie ON A REHEARSAL ('81)? I really believe he's in the wrong business (or the wrong band), accountancy would suit him nicely.

Happy Days all the same!! G The set-list would probably have looked something like this, depending on how long on stage at Dalymount: Caroline, Roll Over Lay Down, Backwater, Rockers Rollin', Is There a Better Way, Hold You Back, Little Lady, Like a Good Girl, Rockin' all Over The World, Oh What a Night, Dirty Water, 4500 Times, Big Fat Mama, Don't waste my Time, Roadhouse Blues, Rain, Down Down, Drumsolo, Bye Bye Johnny.

My first Quo gig was at the Navan Exhibition Centre as well, April '82. Hard to believe its 38 years ago!! I remember the huge crush with everyone trying to squeeze in through two narrow doors. Not nice. But the gig itself was hot an heavy and so loud. Have a few photos from the night somewhere. Great experience and the first of many with the band.

Sounds about right. I believe that was the set list from my first gig a couple of months before, as mentioned previously in the thread. Looking at that set list had me wondering whether this was the last time they played so many relatively recent songs in the set - 8 songs from the 3 most recent albums. I'm not sure that ever happened again.

Looking at that set list had me wondering whether this was the last time they played so many relatively recent songs in the set - 8 songs from the 3 most recent albums. I'm not sure that ever happened again. Had seen them at Wembley Arena in May '79 and it was a bit of a thrill to hear quite a few tracks from the more recent albums. Went with my brother who was very much old skool Quo and getting off on the early 70s stuff but I was also interested in hearing the more recent tracks to see how they translated to the stage. Can still remember when they started up the intro to 'OH What A Night' as I thought that track was one of the better ones from the Heat album. I believe 'Gonna Teach You To Love Me' had also made an appearance in the set that year but dropped. I don't remember hearing it at Wembley.
