Withe immortal ringing in my ears....... After the gig, we walked from Olympia to Liverpool Street station, passing New Year Eve reveller's, returning from a night out in Trafalgar Square, then slept at the station waiting for the milk/paper train back to Southend early on New Years Day.

12th May 1979 NEC. Pre-arena NEC, in the days when they built a makeshift arena in a corner of one of the exhibition halls. Went with a chap I'd known for many years who was dating my sister at the time. We all went to Reading Festival that year too - why weren't they going out together the year before?!
I'd been to a few gigs before, but not on this scale. It really felt like an event. I was already a fan just from tv & radio, & listening the records when my sister wasn't around to notice me raiding her collection. However, I discovered there was nothing quite like like a Quo gig to really get the essence of the band.
Funnily enough, the guys we were with were talking then about disharmony within the Quo camp. Little did I realise that I wouldn't see them again with John for another 34 years!

Rds Dublin 1981 what a gig Um... not to be a shite (honest!) - but are you sure about that? I didn't think they got here on the 'Never Too Late' tour ? [Having said that, if they did then I'm really pissed off about that 'cos I missed it!]

G 1984 perhaps? According to the gigography site July 79 and April 84 only Dublin gigs. Other Irish gigs in 82 but not Dublin.
