Hi all
Thought I'd try to compile a list of Quo's original recordings that the band has re-recorded over the years. It doesn't cover live versions, extended versions or remixes, just actual studio re-recordings of earlier studio recordings.
This is the list I've come up with, and I'd be interested if I have missed any, or if there are any other comments!
1988 Running All Over the World (different lyrics, but still a studio re-recording of the original RAOTW)
1991 Brit Awards Medley - comprising Caroline/DD/WYW/RAOTW - apparently each of these tracks was re-recorded for the purposes of this medley, interested in any comments on this
1998 WYW, DWMT from the 1998 ITAN German CD single
1999 POMM from the B-side of the Little White Lies single
2003 Caroline, Junior's Wailing, Down the Dustpipe, WYW, RAOTW from the Riffs album
2010 ITAN from the Quid Pro Quo album, also released as a single
2012 Down Down (for the Coles 'Prices are Down' campaign, from the Australian release of the Quid Pro Quo album)

I think I would probably count the Aquostics as a different set of studio efforts to the rocking originals, but I see where you're coming from.
Can't Give You More, good one, definitely needs to be on the list.
When was Gerdundula re-recorded?
Also, I have a very vague recollection that RAOTW might have been re-recorded, again, maybe around 10 or even 15 years ago to mime against on TV show playback sessions and the like. Just a vague memory though, could be wrong, and doubt that it has ever been released.

Cheers, how could I forgot those RTYD efforts, especially Forty-Five Hundred Times. And thanks re RAOTW as well. That might well be the version they were using for miming to on playback around 10 years ago or so.

Another one that should be there is the 1990 Bray studios re-recording of Paper Plane, just released on the new RTYD Deluxe edition.

The version on the B-side of the In My Chair single is different from the one that ended up on Dog Of Two Head. The former has Spud on the bongos if memory serves me correctly. Haven't played it in a while mind. The live EP version I don't think counts. Although it wasn't in front of an audience I still think it was 'live'. Although someone with greater knowledge could maybe put me right on that.

But they re-recorded Down Down and RAOTW for the TOTP2, in 2002. Those were released as B-Sides for one of the Jam Side Down CD-Singles.

If we are talking about available alt takes of PYE era songs, they also recorded Nanana, twice, Tune To The Music, at least thrice, and Is It Really Me/Gotta Go Home, at least twice. There's also the case of demos: Studio recordings that then got re-recorded for the album. That's another lot.

Thanks everybody for the contributions - I'm learning a lot as we go along. Quo have been far more active in re-recording their material than I thought from my initial impressions.

Didn't Quo re-record 'Can't Give You More' for a TV advert for spring water? Changing the oh oh ohs to "eau eau eau eau".
The recording may exist though the advert was dropped at the last minute.
On the Advert front, Rossi and Parfitt may have re-recorded something for their busking appearance in a WH Smith Ad with Nicholas Lyndhurst, the "nice legs" one! Probably not 'Whatever You Want'!
Lyndhurst did quite a run of W H Smith Ads, playing different roles.

Should demos etc. count? I'm not entirely sure about that. Every song that they've ever recorded is bound to have had a demo. These 'alternate versions' that pitched up on PYE now and again I'm not convinced about either. Some were different mixes and I would imagine some were simply found on rehearsal tapes from the original recording sessions. I don't suppose there are any rules with this but re-recording a song with a view to having it specifically released or used in some way should maybe form the basis of such an exercise. Which, I suppose, would place the Aquostic albums right back in the mix. Then again, it's whatever peterprog wants it to be
