This is a fantastic project Hershie - thank you! Just watched Rock N Roll and SBYBIL TOTP studio performances - I must have watched them as a kid live as that’s when I got into Quo, but I don’t recall having seen them since! I wonder if this thread will confirm the 100 appearances on TOTP or find it was another marketing ploy! I read somewhere it was 87 times. Can't remember where though.

You've missed out Roll Over Lay Down from '75. I'm sure TOTP showed a clip. Mind you, it was 45 years ago!
I'm pretty sure they did. That's how I found out about the EP, which made quite a big difference to the course of my life over the subsequent ... 45 years. Pretty sure it was TOTP.
PS it was a live recording from elsewhere, not an appearance in the studio.

About In My Chair - I always thought that I saw that on TOTP and then went out and bought the single. But it was definitely not that clip. They are doing the moody shoe gazer in that clip, where as in the one I saw, they looked like they were having a laugh. (Which was one of the things I liked, as well as the song.) It was when the single was charting, so it must have been another prog that featured bands. I don't remember any audience shots.

Roll Over Lay Down was definitely played on the closing credits of TOTP. I had not long been into Quo and watched TOTP avidly to see them. I was very disappointed that it was only played over the credits, audio only, and not very long either. There was definitely a video clip - if it wasn't TOTP, it was something else about the same time of the evening.

My mum bought me In My Chair after I'd seen and heard it on TOTP. But my recollection is that was all pretty moody. I don't think it was in the TOTP studio though, although I don't recall a promo for the single as such. Mind you, it was 50 years ago. I'm surprised I still even remember my name!

There is that clip, on YouTube, and there is another one quite similar with the band lined up in the opposite direction! Neither of them is the one I remember, though.
The second one is the one Quoincidence has just posted.

Do we reckon the second performance could have been a different one, rather than a repeat, then? There's definitely going to be imperfect data in the databases of 50 year old wiped TV shows so it's entirely plausible.
What other TV series are possible? Almost certainly something where next-to-nothing survives, and maybe something regional?
Also in terms of actual appearances, as in times in the studio, the number is around 40 I think. I was initially going to include appearance number in my breakdown, but had the thought that if I fucked it up it would be a horrible amount of work to fix.

For some inexplicable reason, I think Francis had a leather jacket on so it might be this clip that was on TOTP. Which is the one hershie put up in the first place! Ooh, me head Frankly, it's just great that we get to keep posting In My Chair and listening to it

To be fair, a lot of this thread is challenging my memory, which is not a bad thing. You get something in your head and it stays there till someone comes along and puts you right. Loving this!

I've actually got a picture of the band at the TOTPs studio for the Down The Dustpipe performance. Will post soon

I've actually got a picture of the band at the TOTPs studio for the Down The Dustpipe performance. Will post soon Sweet, thanks! That was going to be one of the eventual things I wanted to do; try and at least get some stills or photos from the missing performances. There's a few I've seen labeled as TOTP. Black and white with both in leather jackets, and a couple of colour ones with Rick in a black open shirt and Francis in a spotty jumper or something. There's probably more out there; I've never really looked into it beyond a Google search.

Great photos. Looking into it, the black and white picture I was referring to is from In My Chair as well. There's a few from the same session as the latter one. It's labelled as being from a performance of Caroline and has the date of 01/10/1973. If it is from a Caroline performance, it'd have to be the one missing from 18/10/73, but I'm not at all certain.
