So Quo were on TOTP performing Paper Plane? Would I be correct in saying that there is no remaining footage of that performance? They were. My mum shouted me through from the bedroom when they came on and said "that group you like's on". I'll be honest, I didn't realise no footage of that broadcast exists anymore. Thought it was probably on You Tube somewhere. Shame that.

That is exactly the footage that most of us (apart from those who got into Quo because of their seminal album Ain't Complaining) are craving for. Bring it on!

Above: Quo performing Paper Plane on TOTP There's also a missing 3rd performance of Caroline. Their performance of In My Chair on TOTPs still exists, only because of it being broadcast on German TV

Someone out there must have copies of the TOTP deleted tapes. And also why did it take Paper Plane two months from its release ( November 1972) to get to its highest position in the charts ( January 1973)?

Worked a lot differently back then, especially so considering it was their first hit under the new Quo, took a while to catch on.

Here is a very slightly extended Marquee clip from 1972. I dont think its been posted before. Enjoy. Thanks wonder if whole set exists on film. I know paper plane got overdubbed with the studio version from this gig.

So, Roadhouse Blues was filmed and shown somewhere as well. Where was it shown? Yes to Mortified above. These Marquee clips certainly show what an amazing live band the Frantic Four were. Totally unrivalled! All four songs were shown in swedish television. I was too young at the moment but I have older friends who watched it. Another friend also claims that he has seen Mean Girl live on swedish or danish tv (in southern Sweden you can see tv from both countries, thats why the confusion). Did they play Mean Girl too at this Marquee gig or have anybody here seen some other live clip of that song?

Mean Girl was popping in and out of the set at this time so it wouldn't surprise me. allypThere's a listing, IIRC, in some Swedish TV Archives for 30 minutes of footage from the show which will just be; Don't Waste My Time, Paper Plane, Roadhouse Blues, Bye Bye Johnny and possibly Mean Girl. They've been contacted and they said they don't have it. Whole gig won't exist however. Just broadcast tapes

I can't remember when I first saw/heard them play Mean Girl. I'm fairly sure it wasn't in the set on the Piledriver tour but I have a vague recollection of it during the Hello! gig I was at because it had been a hit for PYE by then. But I could be completely mistaken in all honesty. If this Marquee gig was in 1972, then they must have been previewing stuff from the 'forthcoming' Piledriver album. Otherwise it would likely have been a Dog/Ma Kelly set. Things get skewed over time I guess. And Quo have been around for some time!

I'd say it was still the Dog tour, because Piledriver wasnt released until December. Not too strange for them to be playing new songs early, as they played Big Fat Mama at the 26th June 1972 Marquee show with a few different lyrics. Cheers

Lots of bands then played songs from forthcoming albums. Don't they now? No maybe not, people are all worried bout security and people recording.

There is a gentleman who has a collection of home recordings, and Paper Plane from TOTP in January '73 is on one of his tapes. However it's been years of limbo and arguing so they may never be seen.
