Quo at their early primal riffing best. Imagine if we had the full gig to watch and listen to. Its a crying shame so many 70s bands have recordings of their shows, but not Quo. Was it lack of money that their shows were not taped, or were they not in the big league like Sabbath and Zeppelin? And why was the '76 live shows not taped?

Many many missed opportunitys with quo..the fare well tour and the rock to u drop tour could have been stadium tours .I also think some venues for their live dvd recordings where the wrong choices.the silly pr stunts .never mind its all history now..

Which venues? Birmingham N.E.C. - 1982 (both nights), 1989 (both nights), 1991, 2006, 2008 Milton Keynes Bowl - 1984 Wembley Arena - 1991, 1996 (albeit, just video screen capture), 2013 Sheffield Arena, - 1991 Glasgow S.E.&C.C. - 1991 Sutton Park - 1992 Brixton Academy - 1996 Shepherds Bush - 2000 Every show on the 2013 reunion tour, asides from Hammersmith Dublin O2 - 2014 London O2 - 2016 Have I missed any out? Not including gigs filmed by TV companies like the Marquee or Madrid concerts. However, I do wish that they had recorded a gig on the actual RTYD tour, aside from the Live Event gigs.

Ah yeah, Butlins! Tbh, I agree about recording at the O2 and also Wembley Arena. The band have never really liked the venue either. The recordings at the NEC have always possibly been the best, IMO. Especially 1989 / 2006 when they splashed out a ton of cash just to set up an extra lighting rig above the crowd.

Yeah, plenty of recording there, but all from the 1980s onwards and little or nothing when they were at the height of their powers 72-79. A shame!

Back in the spring of 1986, live performance footage of Bye Bye Johnny from The Marquee 1972 was shown at the end of a Saturday morning programme on Ireland's RTE channel. It was un-archived from somewhere and was shown to viewers immediately following a pre-filmed interview with Brian May, several weeks before Queen's headline appearance at Slane Castle, as part of the Magic Tour. At the time (around April), Quo were talked about as a possible support to Queen at this annual music festival in County Meath (north of Dublin) - especially as they had already been confirmed as support to Queen at Wembley Stadium. This is the reason why they decided to end the morning TV programme with Quo footage. Not all of BBJ was shown to viewers, as the show's ending credits finished during the middle lead guitar solo part. If the same BM interview is to ever appear on YouTube, I somehow sense that the uploader will not include the 'rare' Quo live footage that followed its original transmission. He/she may even have stopped the VCR taping of the interview after the chat ended...and before the Quo live at The Marquee footage appeared on Irish TV screens. At the end of 1986, a 26-track VHS compilation featuring Quo promo videos from the years 1973 to 1986 - see here - was released to the buying public. After acquiring this and seeing the footage of Paper Plane, I recognised immediately that it was from the same filmed gig as the Bye Bye Johnny footage I saw on TV months earlier. 34 years on, I have yet to see the BBJ footage again from this Quo gig. All that seems to be available from it are the performances of Paper Plane & Don't Waste My Time.

I think there's possibility that the full gig will have been filmed, but; Don't Waste My Time, Paper Plane, Roadhouse Blues and Bye Bye Johnny were the only ones ever broadcast. Filmed by a Swedish TV company rather than the band themselves, as far as I know

So, Roadhouse Blues was filmed and shown somewhere as well. Where was it shown? Yes to Mortified above. These Marquee clips certainly show what an amazing live band the Frantic Four were. Totally unrivalled!

Totally unrivalled! Roadhouse Blues was shown around the mid 80s also. The footage of those 4 tracks should still exist as that's were the leaked soundboard audio comes from - despite the bad audio quality.

I can recall some of the Marquee footage being shown on "The Old Grey Whistle Test". Yes, I am THAT old My memory isn't 100% clear but it was before I went to to see the band for the first time so I'm guessing it was around February or early March 1973 because I already had my tickets. And you didn't get them a year in advance in them days! 2 or 3 months max. I dare say the date of the broadcast is documented somewhere. I was already a fan (hence the tickets to state the bleedin' obvious ) but I'd never seen any sort of live performance of the band before other than the TOTP appearances for In My Chair and Paper Plane. So this footage was a bit of an eye opener for someone who'd never been to a gig before. OK, I'm wallowing a bit now but indulge me. I'm getting on a bit and stuck at home with nothing to do but think

So Quo were on TOTP performing Paper Plane? Would I be correct in saying that there is no remaining footage of that performance?

The BBC have either destroyed it or recorded over it
