I always thought Pete did a great job on the road & probably wasn't offered much scope to express himself too much in the studio. The MK bowl gig was the end, the very end we thought, of a long tour & there was an emotional element to the day too so I don't think the day was set up for an ideal performance from the band. I'm sure they played many better gigs on that tour. I saw them in Oxford, Leicester, Selhurst Park & Milton Keynes &, to my mind, Leicester was the pick of their performances. definitely down to emotions! Was listening to one of the Glasgow gigs from this tour the other day and the band were on fire. In regards to Petes drumming... I've always preferred him over John. Much tighter playing, whereas John had a more sloppy style.

Francis said in his book that most of the vocals had to be overdubbed as rossi and parfitt were too coked to sing properly???

Francis said in his book that most of the vocals had to be overdubbed as rossi and parfitt were too coked to sing properly??? Rick overdubbed WYW and the vocals throughout the Mystery Medley. Most of Rossi vocals are overdubbed. Wasn't down to coke, that's simply an excuse. Rossi voice was very coarse sounding on the day. Rick's, going off the bootleg) weren't that bad. Easy to tell what songs have the most overdubbed, as there'll either be no crowd noise during the song or you can still hear the original audio over the crowd mics... for example, during Hold you Back, you can still hear Rossi saying the "aye's" to the crowd over the crowd mics, as well as the "come on aye" during WYW which is just barely audible. If you look closely during RAOTW, I'm sure you can still hear him "singing" at one point whilst nowhere near the mic Edit: nevermind. Its during the first chorus where hes singing into the mic but you cant hear him singing until it comes to the "here we go..."

Guessing these will be the real reasons Francis won't want it released then? The flaws on the overdubs.

Will drop you a message Gav But no, Rossi doesn't have a clue what goes out and wouldn't really have a say as far as I know. The overdubs wouldn't be too bad if mixed in properly, but at the time it was a rushed job. The mixing of the gig didn't start until September time, and then the video was mixed in October for release in November. The mixes for EOTR and MFTR are slightly different. MFTR has a muddier sound to it, and ROLD has a louder crowd dubbing at the beginning
