" Two blokes scrambling for their mobile phones...." In 2000? Bl00dy hell, how hip and modern was a Quo crowd back then? I guess they might have. I was still on my first Sony Ericsson with the interchangeable plastic coloured covers. Getting a signal inside a venue was nigh on in impossible 20 years ago so strength to their arm. And the battery would probably have lasted until Quo launched into Rain. The writer is/was indeed that shortened version of a rooster so eloquently described by Rick Roper. Has anyone here EVER seen a Quo fan sway with a lit up phone or fag lighter to Whatever You Want? Seriously, the man made that up. Because he's a comedian obviously. Life and soul of any Fleet Street party. The wag. I can't remember too much about the 2000 winter tour. OK, the album was krapp but the gigs never were. The man didn't like them and went in with his preconceived prejudices. He wasn't the first to do that and certainly not the last either. Pity he couldn't have stayed in and washed his hair. But that excuse wasn't available to give to his employers

The numerous encores had also been a dubious and inventive piece of writing, unless I'm very mistaken? Perhaps the journo was in the pub having a pint and a pie instead and just made it up? A practice not unheard of in the past.
