Hi Tony, welcome! Quoincidence is our resident board expert in such matters! If you ever want to tag a member in a post so they are notified, put the @ sign before their username. If you want to tag admin (me) it @ before admin. You anywhere near the fires in Oz? Hope you and our other Australian members are ok. Many thanks @4th Chord I'm in the middle of nowhere in Western Australia, we've been lucky here, a couple of fires about a month ago, but nothing since. Hope you're well too. Hiya Tony acoje. Because our leader is different to the rest of us, you don't use his name when tagging, just the @ sign immediately followed by admin Hope you stay ok where you are. Thoughts are with anyone affected by the terrible fires in other parts of Oz.

Thank you all so much for the welcome, i'm very happy to be here Very interesting about the december broadcast being a mix of the two nights, I always assumed it was a repeat of the original live tv broadcast, I'll have to go back and listen to it again, see if I can spot any differences. What about the recording Tommy Vance played on the friday rock show? I have that somewhere and it was pretty good FM quality, if I remember right it had the original hold you back where Rossi's guitar gets hit with something, which was changed when it was released on "live at the BBC'' It's great to know they recorded more gigs than we know about, I only hope they're made available somehow because there really isn't much good quality Quo recordings out there compared to say Rory Gallagher who seems to have done much more radio and tv live. All I know on video from the frantics era is a little bit from the Marquee in 72, Empire pool, Madrid, and Bingley hall none of them full gigs, at least we've got doing their thing and a few beat clubs. I hope there's more to come. Many thanks Quoincidence. Here's the December TV rebroadcast Songs that contain footage from both nights are; Caroline (had to cut that from the video due to it being heavily copy-written) Roll Over Lay Down Backwater Whatever You Want A bottle hits Rossi's guitar during the last jig during Hold You Back. You don't see it happen as the camera is panning around the crowd, but you see a roadie / crew member run onto the stage and pick it up. The incident was overdubbed on the VHS & LaserDisc release but for every CD, Vinyl & Cassette format since it's released, they have used the audio from the night prior. The only time the officially dated the audio as coming from the 13th May gig is on the Rockers Rollin' 2001 boxset. Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show broadcast the gig in full on January 7th 1983, however the incorrect version of Hold You Back was included with the broadcast airing. The version used on the BBC Boxset was a different broadcast entirely, where it faded out during the Jig during Roadhouse Blues. That was also poorly fixed on the BBC Boxset. Madrid 1975 gig has possibly been destroyed by the TV company that filmed it due to the bad state it was in when they broadcast it in the year 2000. Wembley Empire Pool 1974 footage was done quickly and cheaply. They had issues with cameras on the night, and the audio was p*ss poorly captured, however, the Whistle Test aired a great sounding version of Big Fat Mama from that show. Marquee 1972 is missing, but it was filmed by a Swedish TV crew so it isn't Quo's fault or the Record Companies. Bingley Hall 1977 will have been filmed in full and the TV company will have selected so many songs, 3 in this case, to be broadcast on TV. The tapes were probably wiped within a week or 2 after the thing had been filmed. Quo could have kept the show but they would have had to purchase the reels. Take Care, QI The January broadcast on the Friday Rock Show was a repeat as the full concert was originally broadcast a week after the live TV broadcast, the live TV broadcast has the proper Hold You Back from the 14th. The Bingley Hall 77 footage was officially released on VHS in Italy, just the 3 tracks though, I was bidding on it a few years ago but was outbid but the seller copied the 3 tracks onto a DVD and sent it to me before he sent the VHS to the winning bidder.

Welcome Tony. No question about the great gigs in 1982 is too late!
I have one. I've never thought of lining up the dates, but if the second gig was on the 14th, does that mean that the gig that the BBC broadcast on Friday (the 14th ... ) was genuinely live?

Thanks Mrs Flittersnoop, Yes it was 100% live, they had to wait until 9.25pm to go on, straight after the 9 o clock news, and they even changed the running order of the set so they'd have more ''hits'' or recognisable songs while they were on tv, I think the first hour was on tv and the whole thing was on the radio. There are so many versions now it gets confusing

That's why What You're Proposing was dropped and they played Don't Waste My Time earlier on in the set, so they could end the broadcast with that. Sadly the credits that were displayed on screen during Don't Waste My Time were burnt straight into the footage, so they'll have to be edited out. When Rossi is introducing Dirty Water he says "right, we're off the air... we can relax a bit now", or something along those lines.

I'm pretty sure the vhs I have of it doesn't have any credits during Dirty Water, only at the very end of the whole thing. I could be wrong thought, years since I've watched it.

Don't Waste My Time, not Dirty Water has the credits at the end of the 50 minute TV broadcast that was broadcast live. The full gig DVD doesn't have the credits over Don't Waste My Time, the guy who put it together edited them out.

The rebroadcast put Dirty Water before DWMT, because - like I've said, the credits that were done live on the night during DWMT were burnt permanently into the footage

"Confusing", too right.
AFAIK, the full-gig DVD was only made avaialable as part of a much bigger package. Is that right?

Full DVD was fan-made, not sure who by, but Mareno traded it through his Rockers Paradise site. It was compiled using the Live In Concert VHS release, VHS copies of Dirty Water and DWMT and Forty Five Hundred Times from the Party Ain't Over Yet DVD. I have a copy of it somewhere. It also had an interview with Rossi and Alan along with the band playing Roadhouse Blues during a soundcheck as bonus material.

Yes, DWMT, sorry, this is the vhs I have www.discogs.com/Status-Quo-Live-In-Concert-At-The-NEC-Birmingham-/release/6831859no DWMT, must be why I didn't see credits over it

Thanks, that explains why I never heard of it. I'm not a collector as such. I have the original VHS, and now I have the 4500 Times on the PAOY DVD, which is the "important bit". By some strange twist of fate I ended up buying two copies of it over the years, so I even have a backup now :-) The kind of thing I used to do before YouTube, but this was by accident.

Going to hunt down what there is of the 13th May gig. So far I've only seen reels for from Roadhouse Blues onwards, but I'll need to double check.
