Saw them 3 times that tour, absolutely brilliant. Have no recollection of ROLD following Caroline, but 30 yrs is a long time...
As great as they were, it was clear the glory days were gone. Remember the Newcastle gig...lots of talk that night at how it wasn't sold out and that this was unheard of. When the new stuff was played , lots of people around me sat down.
The difference between the live sound and studio album was mammoth. While the bands new music and promo appearances did the opposite of shifting tickets, those that did go went home very happy.

When Rossi announced the band weren't going to play Little Dreamer and Perfect Remedy at the Brighton gig, the crowd were happy to say the least Roll Over Lay Down was 2nd to the opener from 1989 (Perfect Remedy Tour) - 1992 (Rock 'til You Drop Tour)... when the Live Alive Quo tour came around, Hold You Back came 2nd, stupidly.

They were very good live on that tour Pity POR not been played since Cheers Due to Rossi straining whilst singing it. He mentioned that he had issues singing it in the studio and almost blew out his voice doing so. They wanted it to be that lineups answer to Forty Five Hundred Times, which funnily enough was back in the set the following year anyway.

I had stopped going after the previous years tour which was rubbish.
Light weight, too fast and to be frank not Status Quo.
I didn't return for years and years.

Never went to see them in that period, I had stopped in 1986 and saw them again in 2008.

I endured a massively drunken ferry journey to head over from Belfast to see them in Manchester, as a teenager. PR was a massive disappointment of an album, even to a Quo-obsessed youngster, but the gig at the G-Mex was brilliant....the mate I dragged over with me was very impressed. I enjoyed myself so much that partly due to that gig I moved to Manchester for 6 months the following year....and saw them at the G-Mex again!

Yeah, those G-Mex gigs were special. They were brilliant there on the AC tour, yet too clean and polished same tour other dates I saw. Perhaps the imperfect sound was an intidote to the perfection elsewhere?
Certainly in the period 88-92 I remember lots of very special gigs with Quo
Remember buying the album in a record store, and having to ask. The shop owner said it was the first time there was no promo poster or any push whatsoever from the record company. Don't think many fans knew it was out
