Just a word to say that despite a festival set of an hour, they still played the two new songs!
Cut Me Some Slack fits perfectly- it sounds like it’s been in the set for years.
Leon’s drumming really pounds- it’s very beefy.
Great stuff

It says Status Quo but they don’t sound like Status Quo

It's usually the ones who haven't been to the gigs and seen the crowd reaction for themselves that are most critical. If they have no interest in going that's their concern but for the thousands of people who do go, they really seem have a good time. As to the comment about Leon I agree. I've been underwhelmed by his drumming in the past, it always seemed rather bland and anonymous. Having seen Quo twice in Germany this year he really seems to have stepped up a gear or two and is far rockier, I was actually reminded of Pete Kircher's style hearing him.

I don’t doubt they make people happy and have become a good turn. I’m not sure if he can put swing into his drumming but that would improve it. It’s not just Status Quo but I wouldn’t get excited about any band that tours pretty much the same set year in year out. Even new songs, are always played together. Then dropped. Music is a personal thing I just can’t get excited about a band relying on former glories and being a shadow of their former selves. They have become a very good cabaret band.

Sadly in these days of diminishing returns from touring you have to play what you know the majority of your audience want to hear if your main source of income is touring, which for Quo with their lack of recording new material on anything like a regular basis, it is. If they went on stage and played the FF reunion setlist or something similar your average ticket buyer wouldn't have a clue what the songs were and they certainly wouldn't go back. It's a sad thing for most serious musicians that now people expect more a cabaret/hits "show" rather than a rock "gig".
Leon hasn't mastered swing, I doubt many people can like JC, he's just got a much punchier, rockier sound. Still an improvement on previous tours.

I cant get excited about a band relying on former glories and the boss of these band is telling us he dislikes nostalgia and he told us a few years ago that he is so lucky that he can lie down his electric guitar in the near future and can now play these fantastic acoustic guitars which sounds so much better.......

I don’t follow most of musiktruhe posts but I understand this post as he’s coming from the angle that Francis (or his management) have told us Quo fans quite a few ‘porkies’ over the years under the cover as promoting the band . It has been deceiving and wrong in my view and obviously see the Quo fan as gullible. Last of the Electrics tour a prime example... shameful!! imo.

I don't follow them either, but the ones i do read are along the same lines, and over and over and over again. Musiktruhe doesn't like todays Quo at all, there.. I said it for him, in case anyone missed it.

I reckon there's very few on here who like todays Quo. Most of us will have a certain era when we were in love with the band, 60s, 70s whenever. Mine was the 70s to mid 80s, but right up to a couple of years ago i would see them 2, 3, 4 times a year. In deed, it was the tedious, bland, never changing set that put me off, that and Ricks untimely death. Saying that, fair play to anyone who goes to see them now, they still put on a descent show. I'd probably go if they came to a local town or city. I'd also buy the new album when it appears, probably play it several times before going back to the classics!!
I'm happy and content now watching the many tribute bands.. 😉😁

I don't follow the current band but I do enjoy reading the positive posts from those that do follow them. I'm glad that Quo still have life in them. Thanks for sharing/posting.

Some find it frustrating, but I like the diversity of this board. Only because of the reunions, we have fans here who had lost interest in the band somewhere between 77-86. Then there's ones like me who were ridiculously loyal for decades, but no longer are. Then there's those who remain loyal to the band today. And we have those who've dipped in and out.... This mix makes for some interesting discussions. It's inevitable some of us will get irked by others at times. I can remember the TW tour....I was excited they were playing Rude Awakening Time, so wanted to talk about that on the SQMB. It was perfectly understandable I'd get a mass of negativity about the drivel former rock gods had just produced in the studio, the medley and hits heavy set...(that was played too fast).....and the fact that the hardcore was disappearing. When 2 new songs were getting played before HT came out, I cannot say how excited I was. And yes, I was irritated by the miserable bastards on the board who had nothing positive to say! Yes it's great for any act to get a slot at Hyde Park with radio 2.....but it's inevitable that some fans will say "jeez, former rock royalty reduced to playing second fiddle to the bloody Pet Shop Boys !!!". Ridiculous as may be....if Quo supporting PSB had happened several years back I would have been mightily disturbed! I understand why some loyal fans now feel upset about Quo supporting LS here in the UK, where LS haven't had a hit since 1975. I'm free from stuff like that bothering me now...an advantage that comes from having stepped back. For reasons that we've discussed at length, I've been angry with Francis since the end of the reunions. I've now read his book and I'm not anymore. Life's too short for anger towards someone who gave me so much pleasure over the years. The name of Rick's replacement still goes in one ear and out the other, it's weird, I don't even really want to know it. Not seen Quo since Download 14 and vowed I wouldn't again....but Never Say Never

Not seen Quo since Download 14 and vowed I wouldn't again....but Never Say Never I have done my final Quo gig more than once. I do get irritated by the ‘its always crew’. But I always have. I have read his book. Sadly I’m at the point where I don’t believe what Francis says. I doubt very much he knows the truth anymore than anyone else. I like the idea that they perform new material. Always have. The chances of me loving it, are slim. The band stopped making music I love, long long ago. I like Heavy traffic and some other stuff. The main reason I will probably not go and see them again is I really don’t want to hear Edwards or Bown murder songs I used to enjoy. I read Edwards reasoning. He wants to keep Ricks music out there. Don’t suppose I can knock that. However the thoughts a good one, the reality is not very good at all. However as others say, they bring joy to people still. Good on them. It’s far too late for them to change now. I always said the best line up would return. They did. However now that cannot happen. There is a reason they play to smaller crowds and support other bands. They have ground their audience into the ground. Playing it safe has meant ever decreasing circles. However I’m sure other artists would love to be in their position.
