Well I listened to the album all the way through.
My first take and if I am honest probably only take as I don't think I will listen to it again is how boring the album is.
So many of the songs sound like poor versions of post Alan Status Quo songs but with little in the way of guts.
So he gets to record Rearrange again. Still as weak as ever if a fresh spin on an old song. It has some ok bland numbers. I am sure some will like it but they have recorded an album that show his limitations as a song writer.
I hoped it would embrace much more the idea of duets and using the female voice to take his songs to another place.
He should have listened to Plant and Krauss. Which is so superior to this.
2/10
I thought I would go and see them if they toured and maybe I would but on the evidence of this album I think I would enjoy staying in more.

If Francis is so keen of the violin stuff,he should have made a call to Jim Lea,then it might have sounded a bit rockier...
As for the album I couldn't stand more of 30 sec of each song...Not for me

The album was released on Friday, I think. So I thought I'd look on Amazon and today, 17th March is no 38 in the best selling albums chart. They know there is a market for this material, even if its not us.

Well, I have to say I really like it.
I've given it 2-3 full spins now this weekend and find it very uplifting. some of the songs are very catchy, has a good sound, Rickard's voice is good, I've just enjoyed it. I understand why some won't like it though and that's fair enough.
I've enjoyed it more than One step At A Time, I think it's the songs, to me they are overall just simply better on this album.
I think it's better than I thought it might have been. If I were to be picky, I think they could have added a bit more in the way of both guitar and violin solos, but I guess what was used suited the dongs just fine, but still think 2-3 tracks could have been stretched out a little more in that regard.
If they did any live gigs, I'd be up for it, as said on another thread, these tunes would sit well next to some of the more bouncy Quo tunes like Hold You Back, Burning Bridges, Twenty Wild Horses, Roadhouse Blues (with jig) etc. The twin violin/guitar thing could work well with it.
Thumbs up from me and I'd welcome a Rossi/Rickard part 2.

I've been saying for ages if Francis wants to do country, he should get on and do it. (Looking at the 000s situation, it is a very big market if you can make a mark on it.) A lot of this is pleasant and listenable, some is bland beyond anyone's need for bland, and I Talk Too Much with its ELO overtones doesn't fit very well, which wouldn't matter if it was interesting, but it isn't. He doesn't actually seem to be singing much, which musically doesn't matter as Rickard has a good voice, but it is a bit strange as he doesn't seem to be playing much either. I can't see any reason for buying it other than curiosity. If they could get a successful single off it, it might "go".

I wonder if Rossi, on his 'I Talk Too Much' tour, will tell the story of when recording the 'We Talk Too Much album' he put 2 teaspoons of speed in to Hannah Rickard's tea and he left her one evening sitting on a stool with her violin as he went home and in the morning she was still sitting on the stool and she had completed the track Heartbreaker.

A couple of listens now. Melody rich but not completely bowled over as yet but will go back to it.
Found myself thinking about and singing other tunes in my head with some of the tracks...
But I Just Said Goodbye... Quo's 'Fine Fine Fine'
I'm Only Happy... Taylor Swift's 'I knew You Were Trouble'
Rearrange... always thought the demo had potential. Trouble is, when singing along it morphed into BA Roberston's and Maggie Bell's cover of 'Hold Me' (Though fairly sure Rossi's demo pre-dates their 'Hold Me' but there again that song has been around for donkey's years)
Sinking In Blue....something from The Eagles?
Maybe Tomorrow...something in the melody reminds me a little of Quo's 'The Way It Goes'

Finally listened to it all in one sitting and while not terrible I was struck by the thought that the songs sounded strange sung with English accents, to me this country-lite demands an american voice. Nicely produced and a couple of catchy numbers but none that leap out as memorable or real sing along songs. There are much better new solo albums coming out at the moment, Bonnie Tyler's which is an absolute tour de force.

After a couple of spins, liking most of it, one or two tracks not so much at the moment.

I agree with this.. It just doesn't sound.... Authentic! I felt exactly the same about RP's rockabilly song Lock Myself Away too. Kind of falls into the novelty bracket which I'm a bit uncomfortable with.. Anyway, the album. I didn't expect it to particularly float my boat and it doesn't so... Moving on!
