Thanks Viv, it is a great interview. Bastard! He makes me wanna go now. What do I do? Seriously folks, reading this, whether we like him or not, its clear to me why he's the last one standing with the Quo name. And kudos for him for that. Big respect. Its a tough world and he's done it.

Its a tough world and he's done it. He lost my respect years ago. Climbing over others and being selfish and single minded are not what I want from people in the public eye. Yes he’s been very determined no doubt. Look at all those he has disposed of when no longer useful to him. However I will still go along to see him at the local Playhouse. Cos he’s a good turn.

Looking forward to Brierley Hill. "And then there’s Francis Rossi. Boom. The man famous for leading Status Quo for 51 remarkable years is a 24-carat gold interviewee. Honest, funny, engaging and happy for interviews to run over until they’re finished – rather than until the press officer intervenes and calls it a wrap – he’s the best of the best of the best. Rossi has a habit of answering his phone as though he’s an old lady, making the interviewer think they’ve called the wrong number. He’s genuinely funny – an interview with Rossi is like spending time with a stand-up comic, a psychiatrist, an impersonator and a rock’n’roll star who’s walked the walk as well as talked the talk."

Good to be reminded of what I always enjoyed about Francis' banter. I think its easy to see him in a b/w light as the bad chap. As we all know, life is more complicated than that.

Very driven isn't he?
Interesting that in this interview he didn't mention money/business as his carrot directly and more about the music as something of value. Refreshing.
I'm not a Psychiartrist but perhaps his Ma and Pa being broke for half the year in the ice cream business did give him that extra edge to be more money-wise and why he is a survivor.
It did get a bit tiresome at times in interviews when he used to go on about that side of the business at the expense of hearing about the music he created or helped create but of course it is true that money is always lurking around the corner when an act or band reach a certain level.
Jeff Lynne being his hero, as such, does mean that he really values songwriting especially.
He did behave badly about Alan's departure and I understand that he took the easy way-out of using the office fax machine, the equivilant of being dumped by text message today! Not answering the phone etc had been his way of dealing with this life changing time. Rick didn't behave that well either.
I'm still thinking about going to see his Talking show and the book.
Would like to get along to hear Neil Warnock on the 6 Feb at the Royal Albert Hall (Edgar room I think), talking about the music business. He is a close contact of Francis and Quo. Not an ideal day though being mid-week.
