I would like to hear JCQ cover a track or 2 from Rick's album.

I was crying my eyes out thinking of his children singing " ...living my life without you, Dad..."
I listened to both cd's loud in the car earlier. I loved the album and felt so proud of Rick. It's not Quo and it's not all out Rock, but to me, the different styles sound fresh and modern. Something that stands up and deserves to be in the charts and played on the radio. Well done to all concerned in finishing it for him.

Well I’ve listened to the album three times now. I love it.
Don’t think there’s a bad track on it. I did listen to the snippets that were available over the past few weeks and admittedly, I was concerned that it wasn’t going to work. It does though. It’s an enjoyable album.
In my opinion a far superior effort to those of FR.
My one great regret? We can’t see Rick tour the album in the small intimate venues that FR did.
I’d pay some money to see that......

Sorry. Another thing.
Over and Out should have closed the album. No question.

finally got my box set delivered after it was delayed, been listening to it now for a good hour or so and have to say overall it’s decent, there are a few tracks that aren’t to my taste but as an album as a whole I’d give it a solid 7/10.
Lonesome road and Fight for every heartbeat are the two standout tracks for me so far.

Had a good couple of listens today and overall I think it's a decent effort from Rick and everyone else who's come on board afterwards to make the album see the light of day. It's a bit strange with him not here and listening to this release. I know it's not a Quo album, but I'll still make comments with that in mind because I think it's very valid. Stand out tracks for me are by far Lonesome Road and Everybody Knows How To Fly, for me they could have been on any Quo album from any decade and not been out of place. Will be coming back to listen to those two for many months and years to come I reckon. I'm really liking Lock Myself Away too, I've been on a bit of a Buddy Holly surge recently, so the fun time 50's rock n roll feel of this is going down well with me, I'm not and old fart either remember, I'm 32. It's done well and is a good little song. The rest are between good and ok, certainly no disaster tracks here for me, yet most of the rest of the album I can take or leave. Twinkletoes is not a bad rocker at all, Long Distance Love is a very catchy song. Over and Out is very sad when coupled with the circumstances and a good listen. When I Was Fallin' In Love, yep enjoyable listening and not bad songs or tunes at all, but none of these quite grab me like Lonesome Road, Everybody Knows How To Fly and Lock Myself Away do. Fight For Every Heartbeat, good typical Rick rocker, it's ok, would have made a good Quo single b side in my view rather than album staple, but not bad at all and some of these are already growing on me the more I listen, as is often the case with tunes. Sorry for the Quo comparisons, but it's hard not too, did the same with Rossi's stuff. I too would go solid 7/10 for this album and stress that although I was expecting a couple of all out rockers and couple of ballads, I stress the "overall album" is what's probably pleased me, it's overall better than I thought it might be. Rick had not been prolific writing for Quo in the last 20-30 odd years, so I was not sure an album full of Rick was going to be a winner, but I'm very pleased this album has been released. Worth it just for Lonesome Road alone really, Probably best Rick track since Creepin or Shine On.

It’s a case that clearly shows less is more. Albums now just have to much filler. Look at Heavy traffic, how much it would be improved by culling some of the tracks. Look at the Bsides from the 70s not always that great. Rearrange ? Would it really have improved the album?

“Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly.” Gandhi His actions and words tells me I understand him. I have no issue with you being upset with Francis but that quote makes no sense out of context and in relation to grief. Gandhi is talking about protest and speaking out against injustice. People do grief in all kinds of ways. Fwiw: I have no idea what Francis is really feeling. I'm also quietly happy that this album supports his understanding of who Rick was.(that last part is not directed at you pf.) I went through the official FB page and the album is promoted on there but the post is from February. They don't seem to update that page very much for anything.

So about 2 a week. So confirms my view, they do update at least once a week. So they could have supported Rick’s album.

I thought after listening to it so far where I’d rank it. Well although a couple of songs are very good it doesn’t rank that highly but let’s remember Quo soared with the giants.
My initial reaction is better than any solo work by Francis, Alan, John, Rhino or Andy. Not that is that great a hurdle.
It probably ranks overall below Under the Influence, Party ain’t over yet and Heavy Traffic, 1982 as a whole. And not in the league of the period 70-81.
So I hold it’s decent, above average release. Few great songs and a few clunky songs. Not surprising when Rhinos playing do they sound like Status Quo. Several could have been on the last couple of Status Quo albums and that makes them bang average at best. I’m no fan of Rhinos meat and two veg bass playing.
