Word Up was inspired! Dunno about rip-offs but that's a fantastic bass and bass drum sound!

Why not just listen to the bits you enjoy and ignore the rest? I don't think Rossi will have had any personal vendettas against any of you - he just did what he wanted to with his career and, ultimately, has had a 50 year career. We'd probably all settle for the lifestyle he has now, so well done, mate.

I notice on the gigography that there are soundboard recordings of 30/08/87 The Tivoli and 20/05/89 The Crows Nest. Does anyone have copies of those? I love the Bombers and would love a copy. Thanks I may be wrong but I think it was this 1989 gig that was released as a vinyl album some years ago? I've just checked my CD copy of that live album (brilliant!) and you're absolutely right, Per - good shout, mate. However, that album only has Bomber songs on it - the soundboard recording would have more songs, I would assume. So I'd still love to find a copy.

Erm, no! He might have made a good drummer for pre-1987 Whitesnake - far better than Cozy Powell for the bluesy feel of that band.

Here we have a double speed, rocked up version of Quo’s Rock’n’Roll recorded by Quollaboration. The full story behind this version follows the link to the audio below. Why not read while you listen? Rock'n'Roll by QuollaborationLike many reading this, on Friday 17th October 1980 I went to the record store to buy Quo’s latest offering, Just Supposin’. Back then there was an agonizing wait between buying it and getting it home to listen to it. I’m sure that many will agree that the effort put into this ritual added to the overall enjoyment of the process, and it allowed you to read the cover and look at the vinyl itself to identify the ‘fast rockers’ and the slowies. Imagine the excitement of seeing a song called Rock’n’Roll as the last track of side 2 – the traditional location of classic extended workouts such as 4500 Times, Slow Train and Mystery Song. And then the surprise of looking at the vinyl and the dark black, lack of density of the grooves which normally would indicate a ballad. Surely not! But it was a ballad! And it had what sounded like whistles! And it was released as a single after not this album but the next one! Weird! I always liked the irony of writing a song about how the critics always said Quo’s songs sounded the same, but in a completely different style. Nice! And despite being in a different style, it was still a hit. So ya boo sucks, critics! However, we at Quollaboration HQ wondered what the song would sound like as a rocker, so we did our own version in a more traditional Quo style. It’ll never be a classic song, but we hope you find some interest in our version. Quo-oh-oh-oh-oh This is dedicated to my original partners in Quollaboration who, for different reasons, can no longer be part of the team, and to my new partners who’s first involvement is this track.

Well here's some controversy for you. I think the version of Caroline on Live is not as good as latter versions recorded since 1985. And EOTR at Selhurst Park was the worst Quo gig I ever attended by any version of the band. I was there too..... and I tend to agree - they weren't great that day. The sound bouncing of the stand across the pitch from the stage didn't help but the band weren't great. And the supporting line-up weren't great either. I remember Little Steven being 'bottled' off and Lynott wasn't great with Grand Slam (the second time I saw Lynott - the incarnation of Lizzy I saw was poor too - Snowy White - put me off for decades - really like them now). It felt like the band I loved going out with a whimper. They did come back with a bang because they had something to prove - Quo were always able to raise their game when it mattered (new line-up, on telly etc.)

I never quite 'got' the album. Francis claims it was basically fully produced (i.e. Francis didn't have much say) by Tony McInnerny with very little input from Francis. Why would a major star who's band was selling out Wembley Arena 3 times a tour allow such little control? Surely the record company wouldn't have insisted that scenario for someone who was even then regularly getting top 10/20 hits? Weird!

Something always baffled me about DOTH is the fact Na Na Na was repeated on this album, all be it shorter versions each time. I have never seen this on an album before from any artists. It gets longer each time, I believe. Never seen it before but The Western Sizzlers did it on their second album - they are Quo fans so I would guess that they were well aware of DOTH and did it as some sort of homage (or for a laugh).

In my view it's time to go! They're a pale imitation of what they were and interest is declining. I think what Francis and Rhino are doing solo, and Leon in Middlenight Men are far more interesting than some old men live. [Idon't mean that unkindly, it's just what they are]
I would be very happy with another album - I feared for Backbone but, as always when Quo have something to prove, it was actually pretty interesting. I don't hold with the 'recording cost' thing - Francis has a studio in his attic, is the best producer Quo ever had and they could make it available digitally through the Fan Club, social media and these notice boards. It doesn't need to sell loads as it would cost little more than their time.

I love Fine x 3. From the moment the intro starts. I think it works brilliantly on the album, personally.

I'm really looking forward to this. So many great singers and players Normally slash records with myles Kennedy, I don't like his voice. I can't see me having any complaints here The clips I've heard are quite heavy. I hope there's a few acoustic blues tracks I'll never forget seeing buns n toasties back in their prime in 1988. Slash had a real star stage presence. Possibly the best rock n roll show I've seen Only time I saw G'n'R it was the Axl Rose only version at Manchester Arena - can't remember the year - my daughter wanted to see it. He made us wait 3 hours and I was fuming but I have to say that when he did appear he was absolutely brilliant! Commanded the place like no-one I've ever seen, Jagger aside.

I'm by no means a Slash fan, and while G'n'R's Appetite is a genre defining release, it doesn't float many of my boats, but THIS is brilliant and the tracklist for the album (follows the video) looks intriguing, to say the least!

2. "Crossroads" (featuring Gary Clark Jr.) Robert Johnson 5:34
3. "Hoochie Coochie Man" (featuring Billy Gibbons) Willie Dixon 6:43
4. "Oh Well" (featuring Chris Stapleton) Peter Green 4:33
5. "Key to the Highway" (featuring Dorothy) Charlie Segar 5:09
6. "Awful Dream" (featuring Iggy Pop) Lightnin' Hopkins Clarence Lewis C Morgan Robinson 5:32
7. "Born Under a Bad Sign" (featuring Paul Rodgers) William Bell Booker T. Jones 5:00
8. "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" (featuring Demi Lovato) Norman Whitfield Barrett Strong 7:52
9. "Killing Floor" (featuring Brian Johnson) Chester Burnett 4:18
10. "Living for the City" (featuring Tash Neal) Stevie Wonder 6:52
11. "Stormy Monday" (featuring Beth Hart) Aaron Walker 7:58

While I'm a big John Eden fan (I have bought stuff based on him producing it!), it doesn't have to be John. The remix of Deep Purple's Machine Head by Dweezil Zappa sounds like it's going to be amazing! So I'd have him in a flash! Here's a really interesting video - It's only 5 mins if you stop before hey do the box openning:
