A epic song to my ears, wasn't the lyrics about Rick's daughter who passed away? Love JCQ live version.
I may be wrong, but I think the lyric about Rick's daughter was Take me away... not sure though... There was a demo of C&G on Bob Youngs website from 1978. Heidi left us in 1980, so it wouldn't have been about her death. TMA however does have a dark undertone from 1981, so that may be closer to the mark. Not sure about that one ?

Sorry. Thought it was shite back then, and still think it's shite now. Quo had gone by 76.That's why I really like the quirky play out on Mystery Song..see you later boys.Luckily I did in 2013.I've posted this many times but here it is again.A NME reporter suggested to RP in early 76 that the band should now split and leave BFY as a "Says it all" album. Nothing recorded by any incarnation of this band has ever got with shouting distance of 71-76 songs. That's just the recorded stuff.Luckily for most of us they carried on with a live set made up of great songs from the golden period until JC got boot ending the glory years.

A transitional album but some of the songs are superior to 71-76 certainly to me.

Great groove but way to monotony. Not much is happening. Just two chords. I'm not counting the guitar playing in the refrain as chord changes rather than a riff played over the same tonic chord.

There was a thought going around at one time that 'Take Me Away' may have been about the time that Rick had been stuck in Miami (I think it was) and there were riots going on out on the streets on a serious scale.

Coming and Going is a superb song from a superb album. JS and NTL are up there with the best of them.
If they had gone from BFY to these two then I think their legacy would have been so much better.

Others will disagree I’m sure, good job we’re all different....

Others will disagree I’m sure, good job we’re all different.... It would be boring if we all had the same opinion. Surprising to read someone rates JS and NTL higher then WYW. On the other hand, NTL is still my favorite album of them...I mentioned Whatever you want cos I think WYW, JS and NTL was an excellent trio of albums, consider it the second great period of Quo. The not aging well thing you mentioned for me goes mainly for the song WYW itself

I rarely listen to it but when I do only really enjoy Who Asked You and Runaway; both would have been great live I reckon. As for High Flyer; if I ever hear that again it’ll be under duress. Up there with the worst recording any incarnation of the band has produced. LOAI has an honourable mention I suppose...

Who asked you is one of my favorites too right behind Breaking away which is my favorite from that album. The Quo fan base is a wide church indeed !
