Elements of truth and what he really thinks coming out.
Reminded me of an American interview from a year or two ago, where he went on about pop and country and then said he loves rocking out with an AC30 cranked up.

One thing. This 'energy' he brings. What is that? Did Rick not bring 'energy'?

One thing. This 'energy' he brings. What is that? Did Rick not bring 'energy'? He has to say that really for their target market... I personally think it's empty, flat and soulless sounding. The opening to Caroline is piss poor imo

Was Rick lacking energy during this 'fucking shambles'?

One thing. This 'energy' he brings. What is that? Did Rick not bring 'energy'? It's probably the same thing as " Rhino's great stage presence "

Not that it matters but I can understand the energy. But it’s their own fault. They haven’t pushed themselves in decades. Nice safe set. Which they can deliver In their sleep. The reunion showed he still had it. Still the machine. With Andy filling the gaps his role had been diluted for decades.
Francis clearly feels the pressure. He decided to go on. He probably feels he has to carry both his and Ricks loads. Richie is keen and enthusiastic. Why not. He’s landed a great gig. A fan of the band. Living a dream. That will bring energy in the sense of enthusiasm. Like Jason Newsted first and foremost was a fan of Metallica who loved the old shit. When a guitarist joined Whitesnake he loved Purple and got Coverdale to revisit Burn and other Purple classics before the Purpke fiasco album came about. The guy who joined Priest brought energy and enthusiasm with him.
Do I think they should have packed it in. Well yes. I thought that for 30 years. But others kept buying tickets etc.
