CG and QI, you're probably right of course. I guess I was just trying to explain to myself why they would have done this and to me, a mistake was preferable to an unfeeling, calculated business manoeuvre. Ticket sales must be really down to sink to this desperate state of affairs. I totally understand why you would want to think that way Viv. I've had a look on the Quo fb page this evening and they posted the announcement 3 hours before a post in memory of Rick's birthday. Make of that what you will everyone. That in itself was a poorly worded post by saying it "would have been Rick's birthday". That is not a good use of English. Did they mean it would have been his 69th birthday? Or that it is his birthday. He will always be born in the 12th October. Sigh. Still plenty of great tributes to Rick underneath the photo.

I agree, I doubt it was a mistake on this occasion. They could have mistakenly thought we'd be pleased they're adding 2 of Rick's songs in his memory and that is why they're announcing this today but its still wrong. I wonder if they're adding those 2 songs in a bid to make up for the disappointment in failing to put on a Rick Tribute gig as promised. Francis may make an announcement before they play those songs in memory of Rick. I'm sure they think its a great tribute and a pennies in royalties for paying his songs too. I suppose the positive spin would be if they do announce they're in memory of Rick at each gig and even screen his photo like they did at the memorial gig in Woking this summer. But if they make no mention of him and just play the songs, I don't see how that is a tribute. Time will tell. If they're going to be play on the Australian tour, I'm sure we'll hear about it soon enough.

Getting very desperate now. And I see they've changed the poster. AGAIN. And it looks s**t. They changed it for Accept No Substitute in 2015. And again last year, but far too late. Squeezed as much out of Rick's image to sell as many tickets as they could. How many f**k ups is this band allowed before "Team Rhino" will admit that the management are totally inept and shouldn't be in a job? If Porter wants to parade the likes of Terry and Gerry in front of folk then he should go and work for them. Because that's the kind of salary his talent dictates. Who ever did the poster, it's fucking awful... Stevie Wonder? But then he does know how to do a proper birthday tribute.

The new album will be a pounding return to form and will fill in the gap between BFY and RAOTW...I've not been well by the way.

"However, since then I have become increasingly confused as I realized just how much I was enjoying touring with two vibrant young guys in the band who don't get paid half as much as..er...whatsisname used to get. They have given us old guys a good kick up the bank balance and are no threat personality wise.I have carefully curated most of the money and don't have to do fuck all in 2018."

I must admit, I'm still finding it very hard to believe we're discussing a current touring and recording band called Status Quo that has no Rick Parfitt in it... I never, ever, thought that could happen. Odd and no disrespect to your views but it could have happened in ‘86 if Rick hadn’t joined with Francis. The moment Alan was removed it proved Francis could and would replace anyone. But taking it more recently, remember people told us it was a one off when Rick was replaced live. Then he was removed. You got me thinking about this PF and of course I'm helped by knowing what actually did happen post 86. But I wonder if Rick hadn't continued with Francis, would FRQ have even lasted at all? I think they might all 4 have sunk without a trace over the next 10 years. And as for Rick being replaced well they had to. He was a very sick man who didn't live much beyond his leaving the band. Even if F & R hated each other, they continued to work together for decades to keep the SQ brand on the road. It doesn't look like it will last much longer at the level they want if the ticket sales are down as many fans are saying. And as for a new album, I'm sure I'm not alone in having zero interest in it. But I would have loved another FF album, even if it wasn't up there with the early classics.

Comments Francis Rossi, “This year has been one of change and reassessment following the sad death of Rick Parfitt. Although Rick had already retired from touring for six months before he died, it was still a major shock and my immediate reaction was to honour existing contracts and then knock it on the head." ??!! They get the s**t sued out of them if they don't, and promoters will be less likely to support possible future solo efforts if an artist is deemed unreliable / likely to cancel. RP had already retired from touring so his passing couldn't be used as an excuse to cancel existing commitments.

I've always thought Simon "Slimming World Banned Me" Porter was a complete idiot but now it seems he's also dyslexic, having read the announcement on the official Quo site, despite the band only having five members it seems he can't even spell Richie's surname correctly. With such basic mistakes as that what hope is there for the future?

A blur between what Francis is trying to say and what management wants released. I guess they are reaping what they sowed many years ago.

Francis Rossi did not say a "full on Quo rock album" Also, a tribute to Rick by including Little Lady and DDMC?! Fuck off! Oh please dear God no!!! Another 2 of Rick's songs that can be totally butchered & crucified Like Rain was.
And as even Rain was lowered by 2 semitones, then surely these 2 higher & harder to sing songs also will be lowered to suit the new, er, vocalist. It doesnt bear thinking about.
Also, if this must be done, why cant they just do it on the night. Why do they have to make a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT about it beforehand?? Do they think it's going to entice people who had decided not to go, to now go because 2 of Ricks songs will be..... ( insert your word of choice )?
And again, if it must be done, why songs that have been played a fair bit over the years anyway??? Why not 2 songs that have never been done live before? You know, SOMETHING DIFFERENT. Little Lady, wow that wont take much effort to get in will it.
I used to worship this band, & spend most of my money on them when I started working. Now, no thankyou.
And we 'complain' about things because we care. We care about what's happened to our beloved band. The moaners & complainers (as we're called), actually care much more than the zombified sheep that just go along & rave about everything all the time. I don't think they actually care at all. They don't care what songs are played. They don't care whether it's a good gig or a shit gig. They don't care if the setlist never changes. And now they don't even care who's in the band, as long as it still says 'Status Quo' on it.
A lot of these people are the very same people who for years were saying things like "there can be no Quo without Rick", "No Rick = no Quo" etc etc. yet they still go along as if nothing has changed. Why??? Well I reckon its because last summer, when Rick was replaced for a few dates, they suddenly thought "shit this could really be it, this could be our social life ending if Quo stop". Some of them seem to arrange their entire social life around what Quo are doing, & they're terrified of that ending. So they still go along, & say things like "its better than ever" blah blah.
Yes, Status Quo have some of the best fans in the world. But they also have some of the..... (insert your word of choice )
