And using Rick's birthday to make this announcement is a tad cynical too. But it did remind me I owe my nephew a birthday card soon.

This is a silly sort of time to be announcing a "full on rock album", isn't it? Does the phrase "too little too late" have any meaning? Haven't we been whining about this for years? and then Rick drops dead, and it's "Ooh, I know, let's do a full on rock album!" Rick's health has only been an excuse for the last couple of years or so - not the 20 before that.
Anyway, I don't require a full on rock album, I would like a Status Quo album and I don't think it's going to happen.

I must admit, I'm still finding it very hard to believe we're discussing a current touring and recording band called Status Quo that has no Rick Parfitt in it...
I never, ever, thought that could happen.

Sad, sad, sad.
Says it all that they announce a set-list change in a press release.
And in doing so, admitting that they're a tribute band now?

Getting very desperate now. And I see they've changed the poster. AGAIN. And it looks s**t. They changed it for Accept No Substitute in 2015. And again last year, but far too late. Squeezed as much out of Rick's image to sell as many tickets as they could. How many f**k ups is this band allowed before "Team Rhino" will admit that the management are totally inept and shouldn't be in a job? If Porter wants to parade the likes of Terry and Gerry in front of folk then he should go and work for them. Because that's the kind of salary his talent dictates. Who ever did the poster, it's fucking awful...

Around the Frantic Four reunions they had a potential to do an LP or an Album but apparently there was no demand... WHAT ABOUT NOW? there's no demand for either their live shows or a new album. Talk about beating a dead horse

I never, ever, thought that could happen. Odd and no disrespect to your views but it could have happened in ‘86 if Rick hadn’t joined with Francis. The moment Alan was removed it proved Francis could and would replace anyone. But taking it more recently, remember people told us it was a one off when Rick was replaced live. Then he was removed.

Yes I agree that announcement, once again along with other recent announcements re: Aquostic then Electric, LNOTE tours, etc etc, just remind me of those old Western movies with that guy on his wagon selling snake oil and other elixirs. Roll up roll up the circus is in town folks!!! The Aussie tour starts tonight and I don't believe it's sold too well.... you may have to correct me Lee. I'm just so glad my memory of my last Quo gig back in 2014 at Sydney was of Rick throwing his plectrum to me after playing ROLD. I'll leave it at that.

Indeed.. Where's the birthday post?
He's now just a bit of dirt, swept under the carpet with Alan and John, as I said he would be.
Exactly. Its very low. They know that most fans will be thinking of Rick today. Yes, very disappointing that they would do this today of all days but it is just another crass mistake from their marketing team. They're not very good are they? I looked on there the other day (FB page not official website) and it still had Rick as a member of the 'current' band of status quo

They've specifically done this TODAY, knowing more people would be looking in their direction to say something on Ricks birthday.
Rossi and Porter will have spoken about these ideas and what the future holds for Quo, then they would've have gone to their marketing team probably with a general idea of what the Press Releases should say/state, and they've then decided when the best time would be for a lot of eyes to see this... and when better than a dead band mates birthday, aye?
and they can shove the new full out 'rock' album up their arse.

I agree, I doubt it was a mistake on this occasion. They could have mistakenly thought we'd be pleased they're adding 2 of Rick's songs in his memory and that is why they're announcing this today but its still wrong.

The band is as far away as Status Quo nothing like the Real Quo from the 70's as others have said Tribute Band with Rossi.
The band is like having Chas & Dave playing songs with Megadeath or Iron Maiden

CG and QI, you're probably right of course. I guess I was just trying to explain to myself why they would have done this and to me, a mistake was preferable to an unfeeling, calculated business manoeuvre.
Ticket sales must be really down to sink to this desperate state of affairs.

I wonder if they're adding those 2 songs in a bid to make up for the disappointment in failing to put on a Rick Tribute gig as promised. Francis may make an announcement before they play those songs in memory of Rick.
