The announcement as follows is typical crap from Rossi, Porter and Co., They are not selling well and are having difficultly getting a promoter to support a loss making tour...so they couch it in terms of 'last chance to see us'/tribute to Rick...
Panto Quo, the ongoing joke! and as for '...recording a new full on Quo rock album!' in 2019... this has got to be the biggest joke of them all. How is Rossi going to do that!!!! Has he the power of God to resurrect Rick (and also make up with Alan and John). It will be piss poor dribble.
'Quo Announce 2018 UK Touring Hiatus Hallenstadion, Zürich - Show Date Change Status Quo have announced that the band are to radically cut back on their touring activities and will only perform a series of summer shows and festivals during 2018. For the first time in around thirty years there will be no traditional Quo winter tour of Europe or Christmas shows in the UK. As a result, the show already announced for November 3rd 2018 at the massive Hallenstadion in Zürich has been rescheduled for October 6th 2018 and will be the final Quo gig of the year. All tickets for the original date will be valid for the new date and ticket holders do not need to take any further action. Thus, the forthcoming Australian tour and the ‘Plugged In: Live and Rockin’!’ UK Tour will be the only opportunity for fans to see the band in smaller and more intimate venues for at least two years. Additionally, as a tribute to the late Rick Parfitt, the Quo setlist at these dates will now include two of his best-loved classics, Don’t Drive My Car and Little Lady. Comments Francis Rossi, “This year has been one of change and reassessment following the sad death of Rick Parfitt. Although Rick had already retired from touring for six months before he died, it was still a major shock and my immediate reaction was to honour existing contracts and then knock it on the head. However, since then I have become increasingly confused as I realized just how much I was enjoying touring with two vibrant young guys in the band in guitarist Richie Mallone and drummer Leon Cave. They have given us old guys a good kick up the backside and whilst it could never be the same as with Rick in the band, it is different now but in an exciting and vibrant way that I can’t fully explain. The 2017 gigs have been absolutely incredible and spirits are high, but we do now need some thinking time to consider all of the options now on offer for 2019, which could well include the recording a new full on Quo rock album! We would love as many fans as possible to come and really help us make some noise on this year’s dates as we definitely won’t be touring in 2018. This is a massive change for us, and I know that the Quo tour has become a traditional part of the festive season for many fans”. Status Quo have performed well over 6000 live shows in the career, travelled millions of miles, entertained tens of millions of fans and spent nearly a quarter of a century on the road and away from home. It’s time to take stock. The Winter Tour of 2017 is not a farewell but it will be the last time to see this legendary act touring the UK in their traditional manner for the immediate future. Press Release - 12-10-17 09:00

Francis Rossi did not say a "full on Quo rock album"
Also, a tribute to Rick by including Little Lady and DDMC?!
Fuck off!

"We would love as many fans as possible to come and really help us make some noise on this year’s dates as we definitely won’t be touring in 2018."
This is basically the second press release put out because tickets aren't selling - the switch from Aquostic to Electric was embarrassing enough, but this reads like a begging letter.
A quick search of the UK venues' websites will show you there are lots of good seats still available, so it can't be selling great.
And they're playing the last chance to see us card again? It's not even funny now.
Every statement they put it out seems to be crass, insensitive, desperate and written in bland marketing speak these days.

Fucking hell, I just saw Classic Rock on Twitter posting that they're stopping touring.
This is ridiculous now. Not even funny.

Interesting is one way of putting it. Sad would be mine. They could have gone out on a high about a year earlier and with Rick alive.
If they do resume a winter touring in the UK in 2019, Francis will be 70 and Andy B will be 73. Not easy for either of them.
As for another Quo album, not for me.

And using Rick's birthday to make this announcement is a tad cynical too.

And using Rick's birthday to make this announcement is a tad cynical too. Indeed.. Where's the birthday post?
He's now just a bit of dirt, swept under the carpet with Alan and John, as I said he would be.
I haven't touched FW's post. I simply hit the edit button instead of the quote button. Admin error.

A new album in 2019, yeah i'll listen to it, but it's not a status quo album.

Exactly. Its very low. They know that most fans will be thinking of Rick today.

Interesting spelling of "realized". Someone forgot to set their spell checker to English I guess.
Interesting also that its the first homepage update since 7th July. Three months. I've visited regularly for 17 years, and can never remember a gap that long before.
As for the rest - think I read somewhere that Francis had already recorded another solo album, and as a by-product has got writing with a backing singer and pretty much done another album with her? Thus has two solo products to push, plus Rock vs classics in April? Hardly big news that he'll need to pause Quo a bit.

Enjoyed the Russian acoustic version of In the Army Now, tagged on to your post, which reminded me of Gogol Bordello - "Start Wearing Purple" which is a song I love (and perhaps appropriate for Rossi!)

Getting very desperate now.
And I see they've changed the poster. AGAIN. And it looks s**t.
They changed it for Accept No Substitute in 2015. And again last year, but far too late. Squeezed as much out of Rick's image to sell as many tickets as they could.
How many f**k ups is this band allowed before "Team Rhino" will admit that the management are totally inept and shouldn't be in a job? If Porter wants to parade the likes of Terry and Gerry in front of folk then he should go and work for them. Because that's the kind of salary his talent dictates.
