Listening to their Live album here.
Fuck me...
I've been a fan since I was a kid but,it just dawned on me, it's absolutely ridiculous how every song that's on here is basically a legendary song.
Danicong Queen, Eagle, Does Your Mother Know, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Take a Chance On Me, Name Of The Game, Voulez Vous... I could go on
Absolute filth! Ridiculous back catalogue

Incredibly talented song writers and arrangers together with amazing delivery by empathetic and emotional singers. Perfect pop really. Leagues above most in the pop world. They have an interesting pre (1960's Swedish Folk and Pop Groups) and post Abba history as well.
Like a lot of things Swedish a light and a very dark side so not all one lightweight pop, happy shade. (Eg The Winner Takes it All and The Day Before You Came)
There is a recorded programme, which I have only seen once but does exist, of FR going through his selection of Abba songs in which he salivates about the talent of the band.
At one stage there were rumours about FR and RP having some form of liaison with Agnetha and Annifrid but I have never seen any evidence about this and it may only have been their wishful thinking/dreaming!

I heard it was another member and there was a song written about her. All I can say is, it goes to show what a man he is and how much I wanna slap him out of jealously You mention Francis...Not to turn this into a debate but, he said he loved The Visitors....Great song that is it but, you can actually hear the influence on some songs on 1982

I like Waterloo, SOS & Knowing Me Knowing You - so not really my sort of thing, although they were very good at what they did.

Lemmy said in an interview once that ABBA were the perfect pop band as once you heard their songs you couldnt get them out of your head and thats what its all about 😀 He mentioned that he had heard dancing queen on the radio that morning and had been singing it to himself all day!!

Of course, whilst I can now in my maturity appreciate Abba, in the mid 1970's when I first really got in to Quo I had no time for them or their music at all.
They represented the type of music that the older generation liked (and for instance my Mum loved, but when I look back she also said to me about some Quo stuff '"I like that, that is good"!) and you thought you were rebelling against as a teenager.
Quo were seen as working class and anti-establishment (as opposed to bands like Pink Floyd and Genesis) before the Punks a few years later. The Punks were my generation really and gave me a dilemma as I liked a lot of Punk and New Wave but Quo were still the top in my mind.

Always have had a soft spot for ABBA and the talent.... Couldn't admit that when beeing a cool (?) teen, but they have really stood the test of time with their songs. Mum loved Sabbath(!) Creedence. Purple and Quo, so when I moved out I had to make a cassette for her...

I think that this is interesting. The writers are writing songs in their latter career about marriage break up and the songs are then sung by the ex wives.
