Exactly how I feel, rock. I'm so glad my last memory of Rick is watching him rip into that last Quo gig at Hordern Pav, and to top it off was catching his plectrum after they played ROLD which was a perfect way to finish my Quo live days. My only regret of it is that I won't catch up with a few members of this board such as Ozpaul, Michele, Lee (rockdoctor), and a few others as in past gigs and catching up with you for a beer or three. My wish would be for John Coghlan to come over here and play some gigs with Alan and maybe the Brewster boys. To see the Brewster brothers & John, Alan would be great. I'll shout the first 3 beers. Gonna see the Angels With Rose Tattoo in next couple months here in Wollongong, won't be the same without Doc though. But will be fantastic to hear Brewster Brothers cranking those guitars. I wonder what happened to slowtrain, don't hear from him any more. Might hear from him after the Opera House gig. [brHad the same thought myself the other day about slowtrain7. ]

Whatever your views on Quo albeit more of an FF fan or a fan throughout the eras and different line ups, the whole thing no longer holds any charm without him.
Nothing to look forward to now and most on here only post out of habit, loss or to remember happier days of tours or recorded output.
Peace and love to all.

Well, I certainly don't post just out of habit, if I would be doing that I would have left a long time ago, believe me !

I disagree, I reckon a lot here post as simply a means to chat with like minded folk in as we are fans of the various genres of Status Quo. Sure we have differing views on politics and the moon landings ;-) but generally this place is a bit of fun to chat with interesting people from around our planet.... imo

It's fitting that he died on xmas eve. Fans will never forget that and Rick will be remembered on that day for many many years to come

Its not possible to speak for individuals in terms of why they contribute on here and obviously reasons are as valid as always.
But on the other hand to provide some balance to the general responses to your post, I do know what you mean by all seeming said and done. That's not just with Rick sadly gone, but also that with so much interest being of the past tense variety.
This inevitably involves repetition of so much covered before. After all, there are only so many times you can post the same thing about glory days - whether that is band members, gigs, reviews of albums songs, anecdotes etc. Fine if you have banter with various mb members as a means to keep posting, but its easy to see why others are steadily filing away.

But are they filing away? Membership nos continue to grow, albeit slowly. We've had some great threads recently threads recently. The Quo poems, what last Quo album did you listen to?, I've just listened to Hello and many others. What I sense is a return to the love of the music and sharing that love again. There is a limit to how much we can talk about the current band.

"There is a limit to how much we can talk about the current band." 30 seconds was more than enough time.

I'll never forget that day, had had a great afternoon, finished work at dinner time, had a beer filled afternoon, then checked the sky news at teatime, only to be hit with that... needless to say it was Southern Comfort for the rest of the day/night!,... RP was a one off, will always love the bloke, end of...LEGEND...

Sure, it is nice to talk about all things Quo, but there's much more to it then that for me. And not only have I met very interesting people but developed some wonderful friendships as well. If I could only talk about Quo, as much as I like them, but it would not have been nearly as interesting

There is a limit to how much we can talk about the current band. I meant filing away as in posting, not de-registering or anything as such. I know the usual core of posters are fully active on this site but compared to how things used to be there are fewer who post every day/every other day etc.
Its also a case of other things happening in life besides Quo. One good reason why there are folk who wax and wane in terms of appearance.
Nothing derogatory intended to threads about the Hello album etc. Its simply a case of having nothing new to say about any of these topics that wouldn't have said before. At least in my case.
Sharing the love, as you put it, is good obviously, as long as sharing doesn't become repetition (imo) - and speaking for myself at least it feels like it does become repetition.
As for talking about the current band, the thread I opened a little while back about the (unlikely) ways that FR Quo might refresh their approach was no different in terms of alternative thinking to your own views expressed about FR interview or the Wacken gig. As you appeared to maintain at the time anyway, its possible to discuss things not to ones own individual taste or particular interest, but still retaining an open mind.
But that type of thinking tends to be unpopular on here.

In a way you are right I guess...over time a lot of things get repeated... for me it depends on the sort of repetition though...there's repetetiveness about good things and bad things... and sharing the love for the music and such is at least to me a lot easier to deal with then the repetitiveness about certain negative things ... lots of dissatisfaction going around, in me too...however, i'd much rather share the love I had for the old music and it feels much less annoying then all the negative stuff... but that's me..
