Here is some audience reaction. People see what they want to see. - I love that chap. Sing! The video I saw showed more of the crowd from the stage pov - and yes, some did love RAOTW and the crowd did warm up to the song, but compared to a few tracks earlier, they were less vocal. Overall though, I think they went down well. What surprises me is that anyone who thinks they wouldn't. There has been a crossover appeal for rock and metal acts. Always. Status Quo are as heavy as others who have played Wacken. Europe not my cup of koolaid but Status Quo rock as hard on their hits as they do. Wackens audience has a lot of older people in terms of festivals. With over 30% being 35 or older. Also over 40% have been in education post 18.

There is nothing wrong with those in the crowd who did enjoy it. Each to their own - that is not the issue. Its subjective opinion of the performance(s) themselves and the mindlessly samey set that is the issue.
My own view is I find it very hard to get excited about what is an insanely repetitive and predictable karaoke show that is beige at its best, and hence I lack maybe the kind enthusiasm I should show on behalf of those who clearly think and feel differently to me.
Going down well with an audience is all very relative to what they are being subjected to... *The usual in my opinion disclaimer blah blah of course*
I admit I don't see any need to stand up for them - they won't care less what mine or others who share similar views are anyway. More is the pity because fans like myself enjoyed large enough sections of the post 86 catalogue and have distanced themselves from any FF vs CQ debacle. Its possible to prefer one era (e.g in my case the FF) but still appreciate the other. Pity the band themselves chose to diminish and butcher any significance of that catalogue to oblivion, culminating in what is now copyright of copyright instead.

However its about point of view. This would suggest it was as dead as a dodo and there was zero crowd response.

Aaahhh, so THAT'S a visual depiction of FR's description of the connection of a band & crowd being "palpable"!...

The other point which has been made countless times, that (with the exception of the FF shows where the crowd were obviously more than wild), unless we are actually there, most clips don't give an accurate account of the audience. And often not even the band.
Extremes can be noted but I find it much hard to judge the inbetween gigs.

It's a gig , like any other gig ..we just stand there and sing lalalallalalala ! that was Rossi's take on it anyway. So far removed from the Quo I used to follow - and I mean the attitude not just the band !

Oh no, please tell me that someone has photoshopped this as a sick joke.... If that is real then the organisation is in a bad way.....
