AND THE CROWD GO............................. eeeeerrrr asleep Well...at least a few are banging their heads somewhat...nothing like what it once used to be... question though is a bit whether that can really be expected at a festival like wacken...

Part/most of the attraction was RP and his never ending enthusiasm. We all saw a bona fide couldn't make him up rock star. When I took my wife to see the band at Wembley in 86 she could not believe that Parfitt was actually real and not a bloke on TOTP.I always stood Parfitts side at gigs.I would advise it's best not to watch the band from now on..it'll only reinforce the loss, cheer yourselfs up by watching 4500 Times from Hammersmith 15/3/13 and watch his look across stage when the audience does the singing.

The more I see clips of this band the greater and greater the impression grows that its members are mindlessly wasted playing cover music of a cover band of Status Quo. Quite apart from the fact that it should have happened when Rick was around anyway, why oh why don't they attempt to play their own music like most old bands??
Instead of soulless karaoke tours, c/o the SP school of business thinking, the first thing they should have done this year was get back in the studio and record a new album - and then get out and tour it. They could have written an album like AC/DC immediately did, or like Lynyrd Skynyrd have done, that is devoted to their passing band member(s).
Think how many more that might have encouraged to go and see them, and the credibility in the rock world they might get from it? Plus the other not so inconsiderable thing being that the likes of Ritchie Malone and Andy Bown (aside from just Francis and Rhino) might have been able to show properly what they are capable of as musicians than going through the motions with karaoke.
Who knows, it may even have tempted Francis himself to step up a gear from his usual distractive and lackadaisical attitude. Plus songs would be tailor made for vocals as they are now, rather than butchered attempts to re-capture how they were through attempting songs that have become totally unsuitable to perform - let alone crashingly repetitive and insanely predictably boring
Alas, back to reality. Yes indeed, the easy buck from the money tree comes first. Never mind if its third rate copyright devoid of any feeling, creativity and fresh inspiration Just think of the money eh?!

I watched the whole set and you've probably chosen one of the worst numbers. From what I saw the audience were enjoying much of it, particularly around ITAN, DD. But they didn't like RAOTW or WYW.

Great story! He certainly had presence...quiet and huge...never needed to say anything. Best witnessed up close. It was almost funny how much of a rock charicature he was, in a good way...it took you aback a bit. A lot of it was in his face, the eye contact, his concentration just rocking out, the lived-in features. Very engaging stage persona. Even the name...Rick Parfitt...has become synonomous with all that, so rock parfitt doesn't even sound so daft anymore! Household name maybe even?

Rick cannot be replaced.
Always, went to his side at gigs..for me it holds no charm without him.
Not sure you can always tell too much from these clips.
If you had never seen Quo you would probably have enjoyed this diluted version and i am sure there are folk in the crowd that could not give a toss about previous band members as long as the songs are played.
This is what enables the current band to continue as i suspect us old timers with all our moaning and groaning (quite entitled to)are in the minority.
Best not to watch this stuff now to be honest and just let those that can gain some pleasure carry on.
A weary peace and love to all as we look to fill the void with other things.

Its quite possible to see a clip of a band and an artist for the first time and not like them as much as there is a chance you will like them. That very much applies to this group here - I'm not sure it is cut and dried that it will be simply old timers who might object to it. Non fans have all kinds of tastes and preferences as well and whilst they will be 100% free of any of the historical prejudices and baggage that fans carry, its still perfectly possible to react with dislike on a first time face value basis.

The video I saw showed more of the crowd from the stage pov - and yes, some did love RAOTW and the crowd did warm up to the song, but compared to a few tracks earlier, they were less vocal. Overall though, I think they went down well.
