First off a big thanks to the organisers of Woking in the Park, plus Patty Parfitt, The Fan Club FTMO and John Coghlan's Quo for a superb tribute to Rick.
It was a blazing hot afternoon where we all gathered in a beautiful landscaped park. As the gig was part of the annual local summer outdoor festival - plenty activities for all the family plus food stalls - it was well attended. Many locals had brought picnics and garden chairs to watch a number of bands, incl JCQuo. There were also a fair number of Quo fans who had turned out for the gig. I went along and had a fabulous time.
The band were announced by Jackie Lynton using the Live Album intro - "Is there anybody out there who wants to rock?...
Then rhythm guitarist Mick Hughes took centre stage, took up Rick's stance which worked really well, and they started belting out Caroline.
To left of the stage, the big screen which had been showing the tennis, switched to a wonderful slideshow of fans' photos meeting Rick over the decades. This was a wonderful touch and must have taken a lot of organising.
This is an example from my era of Quo. I spotted some familiar faces from our Quo army.
And at intervals it showed this.

JCQuo played one of their best gigs that I've seen.
Set list continued with (I might have forgotten one or two)
Roll Over Lay Down
Something About You Baby I like
Break the Rules
Pictures of Matchstick Men
Paper Plane.
All the Reasons (dedicated to Patty.)
Rain
Hold You Back
Down Down (incl the ending from the album version - I loved that.)
What Ever You Want.
Rocking All Over the World (encore)
There was a pause in the gig when John came on and raised a glass to Rick. He made some lovely comments including imagining Rick meeting Chuck Berry in Heaven and Chuck trying to teach Rick to do that funny walk. He said, "And knowing Rick, he would have probably hit him over the head with his guitar." And then he got quite choked up and the gig carried on.
A few more pics of the gig. I wasn't that close and I'm amazed I got the pics I did. I this gives you a flavour of another lovely tribute to our Rick.
This is WYW.
