For the guitarists out there, Andertons in Guildford do quite a few of these videos trying to sound like classic artists, and they've just done Status Quo!!!

It's no good to be honest. Very irritating they aren't playing bits right either...

They may play the songs, but they don't sound like Quo. No feel, no soul, and no rhythm. And the Down Down intro was bollocks. You've heard Aquostic then?

Giving it another watch I still agree with what i said... the tones are FAR TOO bright and awful sounding! Far from Quo IMO
And as Gatesheadbanger said, the TC mimiq will be getting a look at

I enjoyed listening to this as it reminded me of some of the things that got me interested in Quo, that sound, which sadly the band that goes on with the Quo name has completely lost and knows nothing about.
As I watched it I also thought about Rossi's first demo of Down Down recorded I think in an hotel room in California.
How he even transformed this strum along crap recording (like an early 'Apisstic' recording) in to the classic masterpiece eventually recorded defies explanation.
I am starting to wonder who the band had in the studio to transform this from a strum along not very interesting monotone drone in to something that was storming, with interest and dynamism and power. I somehow doubt Rossi had the talent and must have had some other guitarist, arranger or producer to help.

I somehow doubt Rossi had the talent and must have had some other guitarist, arranger or producer to help. On reflection the answer to my question is actually Rick, Alan and John. They created the interest, dynamism and power to Rossi's dirges. He doesn't realise that they were fundamental in turning around his basic strum along ideas and turning them in to the storming masterpieces they became. He once said Rick tried to complicate things (i.e. Ricks complicating of things created the twists and turns in songs such as Big Fat Mama, Slow Train and 4500 times but Rossi thinks this was too much tinkering and creativity...and thereafter worked less with Rick...what a plonker...he would prefer the less complicated such as Margerita Time and Address Book!) Ironic that without them he has turned in to the strum along poor performer that he has with 'Aquostic'. Without them he is actually rudderless and ossifying. Bitter sweet revenge and comeuppance for the ' insecure little show off' and his white socks.

It just fattens the tone slightly. Not much else.

Take a look at this lot then..masquerading as Status Quo while hanging around the bogs at some Native American re-enactment do in Sheppey. The grinning bloke in the front is giving the old lad behind a very subtle wanker sign, explains the grin I reckon.
