Personally I wouldn't want to go to any event.
No one plays like him. So every song would be wrong. I don't want to hear others sing his songs.
A simple tribute would have been good but it wasn't to be.
Although this tribute is still great...

Ive been waiting patiently for some announcement on Rick's tribute and I'm dissapointed that at no announcement has been made, even if its a "we are still talking about it". I suppose my vision was to have a concert where all surviving members would at least have a cameo on stage at some point and perhaps selective guests that have been friends of Quo in the past (Beach Boys / Brian May).
What happens going forward is difficult now. I think I'd like to see a polished version of Rick's first solo album and then a polished version of his new solo album as a minimum.

They simply have turned the page.
The focus is on the "fun" of the winter tour to come. Show business money making priorities will have much lighter fluffier appeal than having to prepare awkward press releases related to a sombre memorial

Probably planning a retiral concert.
He'll get a mention at that instead.

I might get a t shirt made, with this design on it for the Minehead weekend.

The best tribute event would be to setup a massive screen and sound system in a park somewhere and just play Rick's best video moments at full volume for a few hours. All the while the fans just sit back, drink and enjoy.

Not happening...
Posted elsewhere but, the post on the band's website has changed. It no longer mentions anything about a memorial event.
Swept under the rug like Alan and John were.......

I know! I've just had a look at Quo's site. It still says Rick Parfitt Memorial Event in bold letters on the headline - and whilst they've conveniently just deleted the sentence about late Spring - they've not bothered to change the headline. Useless.

Well the fact that it still remains in the headline could mean there is still some hope....? I would like to think all band members and friends would be involved... the band politics between them all should be secondary to the wish of celebrating the good times they must have all had with Rick... but the longer the silence goes on the more apprehensive I get.

I read the same article and I must admit I thought the same too. It's very disappointing and sad that a memorial for Rick has not been announced.

The truth is staring people right in the face and they either don't want to admit it or they're deluded and innocent souls
What I find hilarious is that some people (the other board) lay into Alan, who is not in good health at all, for not going to the funeral but, they'll make excuses for Francis over this?!
Grim I'm not making this up...Someone over there had a pop at Alan over it and then defended the other lot for not putting on the memorial. The reason? That they could be trying to look at ways to commercialise it.
It's laughable tbh

I am not so sure I would wanna hear the songs played by the current band, especially not at a memorial event. It would only do it total injustice. If any music would be used at all then simply play the songs as they were made and those are available on record. But the fact remains there doesn;t seem to be any interest at all for a memorial event at all and that is at the least very dissapointing. But it is what it is I guess..
