The lyrics to Long Legged Linda are no more typically corny and lounge lizard than Your Smiling Face on the very next album in 79 to, say, Belavista Man or CUOY in the modern day noughties. Don't Drive My Car is not far behind really and if you take away the blistering boogie, the lyrics to BFM are in the same vein back in 72.
That was one thing with Rick, bless him, that didn't change - and its one thing at least that tenuously connects the FF era to the CQ era.
There were a few things at least that didn't change. Rick always had a knack for cheesy and rather Sid James type lyrics quorp CUOY lyrics truly are pants, Catster - but how about... But that isn't Quo

It captures well a concept of a guy who can't take his brain out of his pants and then grovels for forgiveness There are degrees of complexity, but this isn't one

I couldn't find the Andy Bown version but I found this version by that well known but publicity shy friend of his Andy Brown I really enjoyed that without the extra brass. Thanks!

The song was written entirely by Andy Bown many years before. Adding ricks name must have been the price Andy had to pay to get it on a Quo album. I believe on the remasters it reverted to Andy alone as writer.

Its still the case though that some Rick songs have been corny lyrically often in the context of his women - mostly imaginary but often related to real life!

Well we shall see when we get the results of IYCSTH least best songs! Trouble is I don't think I can face listening to it to remind myself which 3 I like least.

To me it's not a Quo song but a cover of a Andy Bown song. The only thing I like with it is the guitar solo. The tone is awesome compared to many of the other solos of IYCSTH. But I can't stand the brass and the female backing singers.
