On the one hand on a personal level, Rick shows us it's better to be a canny bloke than an arsehole. Rick seems to have touched the hearts of many people both fans and contemporaries alike. He may not 'have been to walk on water'. He could do something much more powerful. He could connect with people and touch their hearts.
Musically he may not have written as many songs as others in the band and his out put has been so so for a long time with the odd exception. But he was at the heart of what made Quo great, making the simple sound so great and powerful. yes in truth Status Quo at their peak was a sum of four men. A sound that could not be matched by any future long be up. His playing was unique. The greatest rhythm guitarist of all the times.
Musically his legacy to us is massive. 4500x Big fat Mama Rain Rollover lay down etc etc
The music will be there for us forever. I haven't seen Status Quo since 2014. Some of Ricks finest gigs since '81.
Thank you Rick.

He was the one who got the band to record RAOTW. Without that, there would never have been that opening of Live Aid and the legacy it gained.
