I was lucky enough to slot in John's gig at his local pub, The Rose & Crown in Shilton, on Sunday afternoon. It was a last-minute decision to head to this gig after the Llanelli Quo show, but it was a great decision. I'd last visited the pub about 20 years ago to meet up with John and it really hasn't changed, as you'd expect of a 17th century pub in this historic Cotswolds location.
The band set up in the front room near the bar and that left room for a few fans to cram in, with the rest of us enjoying the sunshine outside watching the band through the open side window (there was no problem hearing them!). It was a varied and interesting set, with plenty of audience interaction both inside and out. John was clearly enjoying playing on home turf and mingled with the crowd before and after the gig (as well as during their half time break). John and Gillie even did a royal moment, peering out of an upstairs window to wave to the crowd and take some photos.
A great fun afternoon with good friends and live Quo music, simple pleasures.

Perhaps Quo's management should of hired this pub, instead of the Union Church, for Aquostic's rehearsal for Hyde Park next Sunday. They might of filled this venue.
