Regarding Dunkirk, I also felt there was a story left untold about the battle to halt the progress of the Germans as they closed in ever tighter. However, maybe that's best presented as a separate tale. One area they could have used a touch of cgi would have been to emphasis the sheer scale & enormity of the armada of civilian craft pressed into service.Hi All, Dennis - I agree matey, from what my Granddad told me the few times he ever talked about it and books that I have read the whole thing was worse than what was portrayed in the film. Even in books you can get the sense of the scale of everything, looking at the soldiers it looked like a few hundred not the thousands that were there. One thing my Granddad said they were under constant Luftwaffe attacks especially the Stuka.
I mean just one single pier made out of vehicles well that's not right for starters, but like Nolan admits he took Artistic/Historical licence. ie the Me109 vs Spitfire the Yellow cowling this was purely dumbing down to give the audience of which were the German Luftwaffe vs the RAF, what I can't understand is why when there was a airworthy 109E (The type used in the BOB) this was never employed (cost ?)

Hi All, Blade Runner 2049 2017(Via SKY Cinema) Being honest I prefer the original although this is a decent enough sequel to complete the Decker story. It's a bit drawn out at times as tends to drag the viewer along, but on the whole if you just like the Sci-Fi genre you should be able to cope with this film even at nearly three hours long (163mins), I enjoyed it for what it was and that's the point is it not ?.....
Starring:-Ryan Gosling,Harrison Ford,Ana de Armas,Sylvia Hoeks,Robin Wright,Mackenzie Davis,Carla Juri,Lennie James,Dave Bautista, Jared Leto,Edward James Olmos,Barkhad Abdi,Hiam Abbass,David Dastmalchian,Wood Harris and Sallie Harmsen.
Officer K (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.

Hi All, Aftermath 2017. (Via SKY Cinema) Another different role for Arnie (Obviously his age catching him up ) Although the film has some quite moments the film on the whole is watchable a shows that Arnie can act, it also looks at the two sides to each story saying as you can have empathy for both main characters in this drama which I enjoyed...
Starring:- Arnold Schwarzenegger,Scoot McNairy,Maggie Grace,Martin Donovan,Hannah Ware,Mariana Klaveno,Kevin Zegers,Larry Sullivan and Teri Clark Linden.
Two strangers' lives become inextricably bound together after an error by an air traffic controller (Scoot McNairy) causes the death of a construction foreman's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) wife and daughter.

Hi All, azza200 - Was that the one that was shot in a special type of cinemascope and starred Jimmy Stewart ?
The Black Tower 2017 (Via SKY Cinema) I really enjoyed this Sci-Fi/Fantasy film that didn't do to well at the box office and was panned by many, whether this was because of more popular films released at the same time I don't know ? There are plans for a sequel and a Tv series if these come to fruition will be another entirely ? On the whole if you like the genre you shouldn't be to disappointed as there are some quite good specialFX that only add to the film IMPO.... vivfromcov - You may like this ?
Starring:- Idris Elba,Matthew McConaughey,Tom Taylor,Claudia Kim,Fran Kranz,Abbey Lee,Jackie Earle Haley, (Katheryn Winnick - Lagertha/Vikings),Dennis Haysbert,Michael Barbieri,José Zúñiga, and Nicholas Hamilton.
Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, is locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black. The Gunslinger must prevent the Man in Black from toppling the Dark Tower, the key that holds the universe together. With the fate of worlds at stake, two men collide in the ultimate battle between good and evil.

Hi All, Alien Covenant 2017 (Via SKY Cinema) Again liked this addition to the franchise took to me back to the original with that haunting few notes every now and then from the flute. I am not a big fan of CGI effects in films unless done well and they blend in seamlessly I much prefer the practical effects. Apart from that small grumble if you like the Alien franchise you can watch this and if you just like the Sci-Fi genre then that should also be the case. There was talk of two further prequels in the franchise but as it stands they are actively just writing the one at the moment....
Starring:-Michael Fassbender,Katherine Waterston,Billy Crudup,Danny McBride,Demián Bichir,Carmen Ejogo,Jussie Smollett,Callie Hernandez,Amy Seimetz, Nathaniel Dean,Alexander England,Benjamin Rigby,Uli Latukefu and Tess Haubrich.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.

Hi All, Mother 2017 (Via SKY Cinema) the film is meant to be a Drama/Horror but I would say it has an element of Sci-Fi as well, on the whole though it is watchable but not to everybody's taste it starts off one thing then changes in the third act which is where the Sci-Fi comes in IMO but I still enjoyed the film none the less.....
