Just been listening to the Whatever You Want & If You Can't Stand The Heat Deluxe Editions.
The "American" WYW mixes aren't as good sound quality as I thought they'd be. Anyone think the same?

The only thing I think of is "Jesus, Rearrange and Invitation could have been great songs"
As for the American mixes, I was quite disappointed in the LOAI. Was lead to believe it was better. No bad thing though. Still a tune

Sourced from vinyl, maybe? That what I thought. I should have stated that but I was too bolloxed. To me, they're only one step up from the demo's. But.. It is interesting to hear these mixes. The title track WYW seems so strange without the intro and to hear the difference after the solo....well we got the better deal I think. But there does seem a lot of hiss on those Anerican tracks, something I thought they'd have ironed out these days. Slso That One By One demo (instrumental) on IYCSTH... I know we've heard it before but what a great track that could have been. Very Floydish.

No Time Left To Cry (early demo) is very nice.

Also both demos of Late Last Night and Keep Me Guessing are very good too IMHO.

Has anybody here heard the OTL deluxe yet? If so: how is the sound quality of the german gig (Rheingold Halle?)? Is it just another ordinary bootleg or is the sound more professional/listenable?

It's listenable but not great quality. I'd give it about 6.5/10 Quite distorted and muffled in places but as i said listenable.

At least better quality than the gig on the Quo deluxe and the Australian gig in the live box set?

Having been intrigued by what Twod said about the possibility of the U.S mixes of the WYW album being lifted straight from vinyl,I listened to the previews on iTunes. I now have to 100% agree with Twod. You can even hear the flaws in the vinyl....... The OTL bonus gig may have a slightly better sound than the ones on the Hello and Quo bonus discs but it is still a bootleg. So.......three bootleg concerts and an officially released album that they have transferred from the vinyl pressing..........either Universal has nothing but contempt for Quo fans,or maybe Quo have nothing but contempt for Quo fans,or perhaps they both have contempt for Quo fans but whatever, this must the poorest set of "deluxe" edition releases from any act.

Apart from RAOTW which I bought for the remix, I've not bought any of the other Deluxe 2CD sets due to the bonus content not being attractive enough (wouldn't class myself as a completist, just a keen fan - and I own all of the previous remasters so...)
Anyway, I decided to buy IYCSTH - not because I particularly like the album, but I thought the bonus content looked OK and I was keen to hear the demos. It turned out to be a massive disappointment - sound quality of the extra tracks is, on the whole, pretty ropey, and the 'demo' of Again And Again is a joke: a really short piece of the track, followed by a load of studio chatter. Even worse, the overall length of the two CDs combined would have fitted onto one! Notes in the booklet were interesting, although it would appear from his lack of contribution that Rick has now given up on these releases too...
I appreciate that some fans want to hear stuff like this, but given the poor quality they might have been better suited to a "Demos" collection where it was made very clear that the recording quality was not up to the standard you'd expect - most are certainly not worthy of being included in a "Deluxe" set. For me, studio outtakes (if they exist) or good quality live or session tracks are what should be making up the extra content here.
If they continue with these Deluxe releases, they'll have to come up with something pretty special to entice me to buy any more - glad I didn't bother with WYW given the comments on here about the US mixes being of poor quality too.

The full version of the Again & Again 'Demo' is on Bob youngs website I think. They cut it down on the CD cause Rick goes on to talk about having a wank the night before etc
I quite enjoyed the Living On An Island backing track though, a couple of extra minutes of unheard track. (Original; 4:50, Backing Track; 6:13)
The 'Now Hear This' mixes are quite something. Whose idea was it to have to solos over the top of each other for 'Whatever You Want'? makes no sense whatsoever, I would quite like a clearer version of the solo behind the original one we all know
