..fit the mold of the Alan Lancaster inspired hard-driving rock & roll sound Status Quo put out till 1976....a sound that is responsable for causing most here (including me) to fall in love with the band.
Having said that, "Fine, fine, fine" is one of the greatest melody gems I´ve ever heard. I remember first hearing it 10 years ago or so and thinking "how is this little pop piece of genius been hiding away for so long?". It showcased Rossi´s melody genius, for sure. Though in regards to its sound, it probably falls more in line with the later SQ stuff.
Do most here appreciate the song regardless?

Do most here appreciate the song regardless? Surely a type of song that should go down well in your part of the world. Slow Train as well I would think from the same album.
I've often wondered if it is Francis singing on these, and other songs, that puts Americans off Quo a bit.
Anyway, always liked FFF. Its interesting hearing the original version done with Bob Young singing and there being a fiddle in place of the guitar solo

An excellent country pastiche, showing Rossi and Young on a different tangent. And the band works great!

Love it! Back in the days when I was young I didn't really think it fitted on the album, but nowadays I realise that it is absolutely perfect there, a brilliant countrystyle popsong between all the heavy tracks on that album. Light and shade!

Always loved it. I think its more upbeat than earlier Rossi/Young tracks like Claudie and Its Better Now but still in a similar vein. Quo have always mixed in these lighter tracks.
