My day started on Saturday 1st March 1975, by opening all my presents and cards while listening to the On The Level album which my sister had bought me and had spent the previous week wrapped up on her dressing table. After playing the album a few times and probably thinking what tracks Quo would be performing in the evening from the current UK #1 album, I had to phone my aunts & uncle's and thank them for their presents, cards and Money. Quo performed Down Down on a new pop programme called Supersonic produced by the white haired Mike Mansfield around midday I think. Celebrations continued in a few local pubs at lunch time and was probably a good idea that the pubs closed in the afternoon during the 70s, as I would of been to drunk for Quo in the evening. After an afternoon snooze followed by a fish n chip dinner, it was with a few mates we made our way to the Kursaal to celebrate my 18th birthday,in the best way I could of imagined, my favourite band in my hometown. As with all Quo concert's in the 70s, it was loud, hard, sweaty, in ya face, with the bands no nonsense rock. I can't remember the support act, but it could of been the Jackie Lynton band, as he introduced Quo on stage.....Is there anybody out there that wants to rock.... etc I was only disappointed in one thing and that was they didn't perform their #1 UK single, Down Down, but they did play for the first time,in the UK 4500 Times. I was in the Kursaal earlier for a pint watching a few people in the the bowling alley, where once was the floor and stage of a great rock venue.

I do hope you're not at home reading this! Many happy returns - hopefully for yesterday, by the time you read this.
