Hmm... I really like Little Dreamer. There's something about it, a solid 80s sounding rock song. For some reason I like Not At All. I think it's just the laid back feel of it, even though it's essentially a jam. Heart On Hold is okay, as is the title track. Absolute shite follows, which is then followed by a hidden gem... The Power Of Rock. If it was mixed well it would easily find its way into my top 20. Aaaaaaannnnndddd the rest is shite. 2 out of 10, the first sides quite good I think.

Wasn't it the only Quo album that didn't chart? Nuff said about that one.

Wasn't it the only Quo album that didn't chart? Nuff said about that one. The first four albums didn't chart whereas this one spent a couple of weeks in the lower reaches, peaking at 49.

All of it is indefensibly awful. The songs are awful, and the production is even worse. The only good thing to come out of those sessions is the b-side Rotten to the Bone.
I didn't like the artwork either.
Bah.

Was listening to it recently and it wasn't as bad as I remembered. "Little Dreamer", "Not At All", "Perfect Remedy" and "Power of Rock" is ok songs, but some parts are still painful to hear. Tracks like "Address Book", "Tommy's in Love", "Going Down For The First Time" and "1000 Years" is the worst songs they ever recorded. Overall rating: 2/10

I definitely prefer this album to its lacklustre and synthetic predecessor. Its still obviously quite typically '80's' and it sounds a bit thin - but if taken in context once again as an album of its time, and by a band that is a completely different one to the classic and vintage FF, then there are some decent melodic songs to listen to that sound quite fresh to the ears all this time later.
Its nature as a melodic pop album means I can listen to the very good RTYD that followed it, and appreciate that album even more for its contrast to PR and the fact that it is the first grittier product CQ released since they began in 1986.
Whilst ISOTFC, UTI, RTYD and HT may be preferable CQ albums to pick songs from live, I still would have highly welcomed a song from this album and one or two of the other more lightweight albums as refreshing and enjoyable changes to the likes of CUOY, TO and some of the 'hits' that have permanent status in the CQ entertainment show....

It's not good is it? I'm dreading these latter album ratings. Having to listen to some of the stuff I thought I'd forgotten about. Sometimes it drags up some great little gems you'd completely lost track of but sadly not in the case of Perfect Remedy.
It starts off with some sort of crescendo but it hopelessly builds into nothing much. The only saving grace on this album for me is the slow plodder single that hardly broke the charts - Not At All.
I cringe at the lyrics to Heart on Hold. They really are truly awful. ....And The Power Of Rock?... "I know, lets do another 4500 Times". "Yeah great, but don't you think the punters will fall for it?". "Nah, we'll swap roles and not put any effort into it.", "Brilliant - lets do it"
Anyway, I've tried to be as generous as I can possibly be with this album.
Little Dreamer 2/10 Not At All 3/10 Heart On Hold 0/10 Perfect Remedy 1/10 Address Book 0/10 The Power Of Rock 2/10 The Way I Am 1/10 Tommy's In Love 0/10 Man Overboard 0/10 Going Down..... 0/10 Throw Her A Line 1/10 1000 Years 1/10
Well I make that 0.9/10.
If this makes less than 1/10 then heaven help some that followed!

I think Address Book and 1000 Years are beautiful songs and the sound is better than on say Thirsty Work, but otherwise it's grim.
That makes it a 3/10 for me.

The album that finally killed any interest I had in Quo, apart from the classic period albums. Was a long time before I'd even see them live again.
Could there be any songs that sound more 'can't be arsed' than Not at All or Little Dreamer?

Sounds a fantastic album I must say , I real 'lets just knock out another bland album with the name status quo on the cover' and it'll bring us a few quid in to pay the bills , even tempted to listen to a few tracks on you tube then might rate it ..
