Hearing Quo were bringing out another album had me fairly excited at the time, and Army wasn't a bad album at all in my opinion, being far better than the previous two. Rollin' Home is a great wee pop rocker that chugs along nicely. Calling and In Your Eyes ain't anything special but I can't say I dislike them. Save Me has a cool wee riff so to speak. In The Army Now was good at the time, but it being played live for 30 years after ruined it. Let's not talk about Dreamin'... ah, a bit of Parfitt!! End Of The Line is a class track and one of Parfitt's best of the 80s. Invitation and Speechless are absolutely shite. Overdose... wow, another cracker from Parfitt which is feckin' class!!
Anyway, above average at best, and it earns itself a nice wee 7 out of 10.

7,5. Good stuff, strong A-side. Don't like Speechless,Overdose,End of the line' at all, and maybe the weekest is 80"s country Invitation. Drummer was/is too technical for quo gig, imo. But oh that 86" time band rocks like hell. Set beginning was weird messing around checkin sounds and 'wyw'song was first. No drone, nothin. Good memories anyway.

I really didn't like it QQ1.Played the album twice and that was it for me.But I didn't really like much after BFY.They took a rest after BFY and were never the same again..still a great band but not the greatest anymore.

I suppose this is the album where it really started to divide fans. I will point out that I can't stand Rhino's bass playing which let's the album down a lot.

I only notice him on Overdose... otherwise I'm pretty much in line with your assessment. End of the Line, Overdose, In the Army Now: 5 stars Rollin' Home, Red Sky: 4 stars Invitation: 3 stars Calling, In Your Eyes, Save Me: 2 stars Speechless, Dreamin: 1 star Very inconsistent for me. Oddly enough the bonus tracks are better than a lot of the songs that made the album. Perhaps a 6/10?

1982 and B2B were bad Quo albums - this wasn't even a Quo album. At the time, I thought it might be a blip - but it wasn't, as the next album showed to my horror, and that was the end of Quo for me till I accidentally discovered Heavy Traffic in a cheap chuckout bin. People like the cover - I think it's really poorly done. 6th form.Speechless was the only song to me worth anything owing to its quirkiness. The title track is diabolical - as usual made worse by the nasty synths. I feel an especial enmity towards this album because of what it represented and began - but there are worse ones to come. Quo was most certainly not back - instead we had the Rossi-Parfitt Band. 3/10 You just insulted Mark Wilkinson... well done.

Well - it was certainly not meant as an insult to him, but rather a statement that I don't like the cover, and I don't like that marillion one either - it is only my opinion - and after all, look at what I wrote about the music. I don't want to hurt the band's feelings either you know. I was joking (and trying to find the most angry-looking cover of his). But while you may not like the cover (and it's surely not his finest hour), Mark Wilkinson is a great cover designer up with the likes of Rodney Matthews, Storm Thorgerson and Roger Dean.

I remember being at a disco around Christmas time in '86, when a dj friend of mine, said over the mic, "....this for my mate Dave, who's a big Quo fan, this is the 12" version of their current single Dreaming" So for that alone, I give the album 2/10, but I did like Rolling Home.

2/10. Red Sky is ok and the ITAN track itself is actually a very good pop song, however hard that might be to admit to myself. The rest is previously rejected Quo material and solo career cast off's. Speechless is dire beyond belief and Dreamin' has the synth sound from hell. When I saw the video for Rollin' Home,I knew that this now meant that Quo were going to be a light entertainment act. Not as Bob Geldof once called Rossi and Parfitt "A rock 'n' roll version of Morecambe and Wise" but more like a rock 'n' roll version of Little and Large.
