Mince? Crap?
Nah
Overexposed, yes.
This was a big live song right upto eotr, before the days of the casuals
Same goes for WYW
It's a shame that when they do mime they don't mime to the original - a recording (as Rick liked to say) sprinkled with magic dust. None of the bands rerecorded efforts are as good as the originals

Dad only ever bought 12 Gold bars. But Quos back and the move to pop expanded it further. Remem ber when they were on Jim il fix it. Strictly aimed at the marketing men, with Francis on a Flying V and no Alan. Playing Rocking.

Would love to know how much cash John Fogerty made from this pure mince over the years Cheers Totally agree, ungrateful scrote coined it in over the years and hasn't got a good word for Quo..

Fair play that Status Quo are still rockin after all these years and they still entertain an audience. It's obviously not the same as in their hey day but it's a nice bit of nostalgia! The thing that annoys me about RAOTW is the end bit where Rick's/Richie's guitar sound like keyboards to me. I thought it was just a recent thing but I've just looked back on youtube clips and even on EOTR, it sounds like a synth or keyboard but it definitely is Rick playing (not Andy) because he stops playing when the bottle is thrown. Anyway, prefer the original recording where it sounds like a guitar!!! Good also to see them playing for New Years Eve (was it live though?) and reminded me that it is now 45 years ( ) since I saw them at Olympia for the first time on New Year's Eve 1975! Happy New Year everyone!

Just listening to the EOTR recording... for the first 2 rounds of it Andy is playing bits on the hammond before joining Rick with that riff and then goes back to the hammond for the final part.

If the band weren't on tour then Alan wouldn't bother turning up for TV appearances or interviews, simply down to not wanting to travel from Australia for 1 thing. There's a live performance from a 1979 episode of Jim'll Fix It with the band playing Don't Waste My Time. Just the audio however as the footage is missing.

Don't disagree, but there were always casuals - after all, this is a hit singles band. As for the kids shows, the band recruited many of todays remaining fans that way. God, how many singles did Quo shift during the 70's? By sheer weight of numbers, most buyers must have been casual. I'm talking about the fans who bought albums and tickets. Perhaps not a favourite, but RAOTW was still a big song for most of them. It was Quo! Back then, that by itself was enough to cause huge excitement. There were limits....the silent treatment metered out by the fans to "rock n roll" on the NTL tour is a case in point. But raotw always went down well, as did WYW. I just think it's "revisionism" from some of us to now say the song is crap.

Back in the day when RAOTW came out, I enjoyed it. Always happy to have a bop when it came on. Not my fav Quo track now but after Live Aid it is one of the tracks that defines the band.
