F**k me, I'd kill for a proper release of this setlist:
I Saw The Light live, an "early" version of 4500 times (wonder how long they'd stretched it?) and proper live versions of Claudie and Gerdundula + according to Quoincidence Mean Girl!

per Here's ROLD before the vocals were overdubbed and it was sped up slightly for the Live E.P. release So my whole life I was hearing a lie? I thought the single was unaltered like the Live album, without any overdubs. Even they left the F note in the wrong place from Alan's bass in the second verse. It makes sense they overdubbed it hearing the version without overdubs. The vocals sounds distant (I always heard the intro from Francis sound distant, but I thought they were capturing the audience). Just WOW.

It makes sense they overdubbed it hearing the version without overdubs. The vocals sounds distant (I always heard the intro from Francis sound distant, but I thought they were capturing the audience). Just WOW. Don't forget, this is just from a monitor mix which was done towards the end of March in '75... "Recording on stage sometimes bothers us and turns us off a bit. We recorded several gigs recently. Southend is usually a really good gig for us, but for some reason it didn't happen. We built the recording up in our minds and it turned out to be an anti-climax. When it goes fucking hell, I just can't explain it. We recorded Bristol which nearly killed us because it's a small hall with an extremely low ceiling and the stage was far too high. It was just too hot and we were all flaking out and then we did Southend, Stoke and Lancaster. Lancaster was just tremendous. Everybody's pleased with the recordings, but it was trying to get that feeling onto tape that was the hard thing." The vocals being distant is because they have the crowd mics far too high in the mix and you end up with muffled audio. similar to what happened with the End Of The Road releases. They brought up the crowd mics during the introductions to Mystery Medley and Forty Five Hundred Times, and you can barely hear what Francis says. Would sound a lot better with modern mastering and a hefty remix job. Even the "Cuckoo" was dubbed in.

I spotted the tapes not too long ago in the Archives and have since mentioned it to Universal. But they need to be baked and digitised before anything can be done with the audio

I was told a while ago by someone in the Quo camp that a live Vinyl box set was talked about featuring Live Alive Quo, Wembley Arena 1988, Knebworth 1990 & Brighton 1996 but haven't heard anything since.
I took it with a pinch of salt at the time and so far I've been proven right to have done so but what a great box set that would be, still holding out hope that the covers albums and Heavy Traffic and a stand alone Bula Quo Vinyls get released.

No live boxset is in the works, however, I did mention to Universal a good while back that they should look into repressing the Live Alive Quo gig onto vinyl. That sort of stuff is better off as a "Limited Edition // Record Store Day" release to see how well it sells, because they could always repress more for a general sale if the demand was there.

I've been collecting the new deluxe sets but have to say I'm disappointed all the live material is coming from bootlegs. By the sounds of it there is plenty in the archives that could be used that would be upgrades on what we've been getting. I appreciate that Quo never really stopped and thought about capturing themselves for posterity, very short sighted for a band of their size but can't turn back the clock.
With Quo slowing down, now would be the perfect time to start looking at getting some of these old shows released but I appreciate that it's not the same as a new Bowie release or Prince box set where the budget is unlimited and they'll sell tens of thousands of units across the world.
I hold out personal hope for End of the Road complete soundboard / video. Plus I've always been a huge fan of the Olympia 31/12/1975 gig, my dad went and i loved his tape as a kid. Might be something to do with I Saw The Light being in the setlist...
Thanks for all the info Quoincidence, very interesting reading through your comments. Hoping for some good Quo live swag in the near future.

I did contact Capital Radio about the 31st December 1975 // 1st January 1976 broadcast as well as the Wembley Stadium 12th July 1986 broadcast, but no look. Their archive goes back as far as 90 days, so whether or not someone else has their older broadcasts I don't know. tricky to track down. Within the next year or so, everyone will be happy And no worries! Happy to share some of my inside knowledge.

Absolutely brilliant news! Let’s hope for the release of a massive Live -75 box set, followed by ”the complete Glasgow -76” box set and the “Hammy -79” live double in a near future!!! Here's a snippet of Roadhouse Blues put over the Madrid footage That Madrid footage is nothing short of stunning. Hair on the back of the neck stuff. I haven't forgotten exactly but I must have put to the back of my mind how absolutely manic Quo were on stage back then. The greatest live spectacle I will ever see or hear. And no matter what anyone thinks (including present band members ) that was the reason they have been treated like Gods by some of us for decades. All good news about live stuff. But please hurry up. I'm getting fvckin' old!

Sometimes it can take years for plans to actually materialise and start to be worked on.

Was there any news on the Hammmersmith 79 gig? will it ever see the light of day? I remember something on here about the tapes being worked on etc. It definitely exists and was a pro recording. Was anything usable? I don't know why that's never come out. I'd love a vinyl double of that. Maybe its just not cost effective for the numbers they think they'd shift? I've been waiting for it for years! although I appreciate me wanting a copy is not the same thing as making it econiomjically viable for release also what happened to the other two nights of the 76 Glasgow live album dates. Apparently the album is the first night. Is that because it was best or something went wrong on the other two nights recordings? That was me that posted about the Hammersmith Odeon, 26th June 1979 gig. There was issues capturing Rossi's amp during Caroline, and during Hold You Back he broke a string, those are pretty much the only issues. From what I know, the Live Album was made up of audio from all 3 nights, as opposed to just one of them. All 3 nights still exist. The multitracks were used to make the intro for the Frantic Four reunion tours. There was an alternate intro made were Jackie introduced the members of the band individually, which was scrapped. So good to hear those Glasgow recordings still exist, I thought someone in the band said in an interview they were long lost, so that's great news. Imagine a deluxe ''Live'' with all three nights, I hope they've been digitised and preserved properly, reel to reel may have degraded by now. I'm gonna dig out the copies I have of 26th june '79 and 31st dec '75 see what kind of quality they are, I've found rare UFO recordings that way

Anything that is yet to be digitised won't be too bad as Universal have proper storage for all of that sort of stuff. Everything that was in Rossi's studio has pretty much been digitised. Rossi himself will have probably said the thing about them being lost, as I do recall a discussion about it on an old forum... then again he doesn't really know what exists because he was completely clueless as to what he had in his home studio.

Sounds suspiciously close to the ideas I once suggested for a CD box set of Live Alive! (Except Wembley 1988, obviously.)
