In the new Quo magazine, Francis says his private collection of Quo live material. He’s asked about End of the Road. Is being digitalised. He doesn’t have a plan for it. So maybe we can in the future see some stuff released. Although as ever he’s less than enthusiastic about the older stuff.

Universal have some of the Milton Keynes reels, but there are 15 in total. Rossi had tons of stuff in his studio / archive. Entirely up to Universal when its released also as it's part of the back catalogue that they own, so it's out of earMUSIC's hands. Take care, QI

A live album celebrating the EOTR would be a dream come true. Maybe it’ll come out in 2024 on the 40th anniversary? Then again I doubt it very much.Francis hates nostalgia apparently 🙄 Cheers

Just more money in his pocket.

If they're going to release live stuff they need to hurry up. It's us hardcore which will mostly buy it and we're getting old! They may find the market disappear before they get their fingers out their (each others?) arses!

Not a fan club mag. It's Mike QuoLlectors mag that was on sale a while back. There are a few things wrong with the questions he asks in the interview... 1) he asks Rossi about a Hammersmith Odeon gig recorded in 1978 on the Heat tour, however it was recorded in 1979 on the National Tour as the band never went touring under the IYCSTH album title. 2) he also asks about Roll Over Lay Down from the Live EP, recorded in October 1975 (which it wasn't) at Kursaal Southend (which it also wasn't). Both Roll Over Lay Down and Junior's Wailing come from the Stoke-On-Trent, 2nd March 1975 gig. The only thing from Kursaal on that EP is Gerdundula from the Soundcheck.

Was there any news on the Hammmersmith 79 gig? will it ever see the light of day? I remember something on here about the tapes being worked on etc. It definitely exists and was a pro recording. Was anything usable? I don't know why that's never come out. I'd love a vinyl double of that. Maybe its just not cost effective for the numbers they think they'd shift? I've been waiting for it for years! although I appreciate me wanting a copy is not the same thing as making it econiomjically viable for release also what happened to the other two nights of the 76 Glasgow live album dates. Apparently the album is the first night. Is that because it was best or something went wrong on the other two nights recordings?

That was me that posted about the Hammersmith Odeon, 26th June 1979 gig. There was issues capturing Rossi's amp during Caroline, and during Hold You Back he broke a string, those are pretty much the only issues. From what I know, the Live Album was made up of audio from all 3 nights, as opposed to just one of them. All 3 nights still exist. The multitracks were used to make the intro for the Frantic Four reunion tours. There was an alternate intro made were Jackie introduced the members of the band individually, which was scrapped.

Thanks. Still looking forward to most of the 79 gig getting out then? thanks for the info on the live album. I remember an interview with FR when I think he said the 76 album was the first night only as although the other nights were technically better they preferred the energy of the first. I think there may have been some speculation that the other nights were unusable because of this. Would be great to get a deluxe reissue of everything then, even if just for download etc if the economics don't merit a physical release. The more 70s live Quo the better for me. They seem to suffer in this in this regard compared to other big acts of the time. We're starved of official live output from what most agree is their prime period.

The full thing will be released when it comes to it being worked on. Rossi could always overdub his missing guitar part from Caroline. And the reason Quo suffer compared to other Big Acts, is because the other big acts made it in the US so they have a wider market to sell to and have a bigger budget for releases, as far as I know.

Many thanks for lots of really interesting info! Is the entire gig from Stoke -75 rescued and digitalized? If so: are there plans to release it in the future?

Many thanks for lots of really interesting info! Is the entire gig from Stoke -75 rescued and digitalized? If so: are there plans to release it in the future? All 4 gigs that were recorded in 1975 are yet to be digitised. All the tapes are still sat in the archives currently. However, a monitor mix of the Stoke gig was digitised back in 2000 for the Rockers Rollin' release but non of it was used. Juniors Wailing Most of The Time Roll Over Lay Down Roadhouse Blues Caroline All of those are just snippets except from Roadhouse Blues which is the full thing. Cheers
