I've met him 3 and a half times:
October 21st, 2010, Mannheim: After the concert I searched for my parked car (the car park is directly close to the venue) and by chance I see two people standing at the backstage door of the venue (one of whom I talked to before the show) and they said Rick would come soon. I didn't believe them, because I've never heard of anyone meeting the band after the show, just before. But I waited, few minutes later: There he was. Soaking with sweat with his beanie hat on and a sweater...I was shaking, the first time I met him. Mind you, I was only 20 at the time. Had a nice little chat, then this woman took a picture of me and him...I still hate that cun* to this day, as the "picture" is completely blurred. Unfortunately I just realised back home...I was so angry, as you can probably imagine. In hindsight it is (I still have it for that reason) my only picture with me and him alone...
March 10th, 2013, Glasgow: Simply the best day of my life. Often told the story, bought a M&G and the four of them were just so nice to me, had a small chat after the photo was taken (because I was too afraid to talk to them beforehand while they were signing my Hello! LP, but after this was done I was so angry and disappointed with myself, as I realised everybody was talking to them during the signing session and the photos were just "Stand, Smile, Repeat, Fu** Off"...but I then just talked to them, the photographer got quite nervous but the band was relaxed and all smiling as I told them what they mean to me - yes, even Spud was smiling, they shook my hand twice and that was it) and what a nice photo it is. Rick's standing directly to my left and has his arm on my shoulder - so if I'd cut the others off, I'd have my picture with him:) Together with said Hello LP my most valuable possession (in an emotional kind of sense at least).
July 21st, 2015, Winterbach: As this venue is just about 20min from my home by car (and I was a student at the time so had the time, read: could skip lectures) I drove there in the morning, hoping to meet the band. It was boiling hot, about 35 degrees celsius, and no shadows to hide. Me and about 5 others were there, waiting for Rick and Francis who we could see wandering about, in and out the bus and all. Then Francis was taken by a mini van but returned about an hour later. He then came to us and we had a lovely chat, he (as always) "hated" me for having hair like he did in '79 and threatened to cut it off while I wasn't looking. Anyway, then he returned to the bus, doors open, behind them Rick "hiding" and watching us through the mirrored windows. Francis talked to him (probably that we were nice and polite, and just were glad to have a photo taken and our CD or vinyl (I brought the Aquostic LP) signed and would then leave them alone again), so Rick came over. With the shortest of shorts I've ever seen. Purple. Trainers, white tennis socks (what else?) and...nothing. Completely bare chest he came over, was nicer than nice, took time for all of us, chatted in German about the Rock Meets Classic tour he'd just done, about a shoulder surgery he was about to undergo in September, as they had off from September 12th, til the end of November(see the sad link here, in hindsight?). He looked at my vinyl and shrugged "look, how fat I look there, disgusting!" and pointed at his then really slim belly with pride. All was very nice, but at the very beginning he asked us not to take any photos because of him being half-naked, which all of us, of course, happily agreed on.
Little did I know that this would be the very last time, I ever saw this man, this hero of mine...
Oh fuc* me, this got quite long...sorry about that and hats off to you if you've read all of it. But it was just such fun to write and reminisce the good old times, which seem to be so long ago and are irrevocably gone...
PS: The "half time" I met Rick was at Rock Meets Classic 2015 here in Stuttgart, as I was backstage with a colleague of mine before the show, who did interviews for a local radio station with Eric Martin, John Wetton (RIP, such a lovely guy) and Amanda Sommerville. As we wandered around (me wearing a Quo T-shirt of course) I saw Rick's dressing room when suddenly a certain ex wife was brought in there by his assistant and some time later she left again. And I swear, Ricky, especially his hair looked really ruffled... Later he wandered around in a track suit with his hair tucked under his beanie hat so I hardly recognised him - no one else did, that's for sure. He looked miserable for some reason and soon headed to his dressing room again, so I didn't bother him.

I met Rick at The Polygon Hotel, Southhampton, where I was also staying, during the 'End Of The Road' Tour '84 He was with Debbie Ash at the time and bump into the couple while waiting for the lift. I must of spent around 15 minutes talking to him and Alan in the foyer as they waited to go to a sound check.

Met him once (briefly). Largely ignored me but flirted massively with my then girlfriend. Can't blame him. He was pretty much everything you'd want/expect from a Rock Star!

I was there....it was 1991! EDIT: I've just seen that you corrected this, sorry! Spent a late night drinking with Rick (and Rhino!) in Belfast's Waterfront Hall after supporting them in there in 2002. One of the best memories of my gigging life, he was in brilliant form & great company.

I met him at his house in Surrey a couple of times. My cousin lived not far from him at the time. Also he would frequent the local pub and we bumped into him in there once. It was just before the start of the 1982 tour and we asked him about the forthcoming `Charlie` gig (we knew it was going to be filmed as it stated so on the tickets) cant remember what he said though as we all had a couple of `refreshments`! Top bloke, really genuine and nice. Sorely missed. I have pictures of me at his house but I have no idea how to put them on this board!
