What's the weirdest Quo song since 1972?
EDIT: This is not "songs we don't like", or songs you think are wrong for Quo or they shouldn't have recorded. It's songs that are just... weird. A bit creepy perhaps.
We're going to exclude anything before that, because it was the era of psychedelic weirdness.
I think it's important to distinguish between "weird" and "rubbish": they're different. Something like "Tommy" is far from the best Quo track ever; but it's not weird, it's quite a straightforward track, clearly an attempt at something between AOR, country, blues, and John Denver. Also this isn't about a song being "wrong for Quo": Invitation may have been wrong for Quo, but it's not weird, its a straight forward country track.
I'm going to kick things off with three tracks that I find a bit weird:
- Green [Heavy Traffic]. Not rock, not blues, not pop, not classical, not jazz, not country, not rave, its.... weird.
- Mystery Island [Bula Quo]. As I said on another thread, this sounds like a 45rpm single being played slower. Maybe varying between 27 and 37rpm.
- Baby Boy [RAOTW]. "When I was a little baby boy , Just to sit and play would be my joy". Riiiiiight. I'm not going to claim to be a master lyricist, but going on about a baby boy just sitting and playing is a dodgy area even for the 70s.

Big Man. I know some like it, but I still wonder how it made the '1982' album (pressure from Alan no doubt). It just sounds discordant and....weird!

The Bubble is another weird non standard quosong to me Musically, I've always found it a slightly funky tune, but you're right, lyrics like "it's like being in the womb" are just a bit weird !

Good topic...
Tango - off thirsty Work is for me one of the worst weirdest pieces of cack I’ve ever heard from the band
Speechless - no idea how this came about
Fun fun fun - sweet Jesus. Just a weird idea. Watching them perform that with the remaining beach boys looked like the Thriller video

Oddly enough that's not one I've ever thought of as weird. It's certainly naff, novelty, cheesy, panto, and wrong for Quo, but for me not weird.
